Ubuntu 22.04 Desktop – 1P app will not complete 2FA with FIDO security keys

I have a Family subscription and use FIDO security keys as my only 2FA. I have several YubiKey and Google Titan. This all works fine across multiple Windows and Apple devices.

I have just spun up an instance of Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS Desktop with minimum installation.

I have installed Google Chrome and can authenticate with Google using security keys. I can login to my.1password.com and authenticate using security keys. The Chrome 1Password extension authenticates with security keys and works fine.

Problem is 1Password app. I downloaded the deb file and installed, that triggered an immediate update and installed version is 8.10.22.

I can enter my account details and it then asks me to tap my security key, but nothing happens.

Have I missed a step here please?

1Password Version: 8.10.22
Extension Version: 2.18.2
OS Version: Ubuntu 22.04.3
Browser: Chrome

    Hi @FrankyO1P

After a long day I found 1Password is an Electron application so does not support FIDO security keys in Linux or Mac OSs. Bitwarden is the same, but it shows a message saying keys are not supported in this OS, 1Passoword prompts for the key but hangs, this is an easily reproduced bug which needs fixing.

It appears that if you want to only have FIDO keys for 2FA 1P does not offer a way to use its application on Linux.

The hunt for a secure password manager continues!

    Regards
