My 1Password has stopped opening in Chrome. As I try to open it, I get a white box with a little spinner going around and around in the middle and it never opens. It has worked successfully with Chrome over the last several years, but recently stopped working or has worked sporadic, opening one or two pages and then stops working.

1Password works fine when using Edge.
I am using Windows 11
This is my personal computer
My 1Password app is up to date with 8.10.33
My Chrome is up to 125/0.6422.142 (64 bit)
I have restarted the chrome browser
I have quit the 1Password apps and opened it again
1Password for Chrome doesn't work even through the 1Password app is open
I have verified the Chrome browser and 1Password apps are up to date
I have restarted by computer
I have cleared cache and cookies in Chrome
I have remove the 1Password extension and added it back to Chrome
I have confirmed in the 1Password app under setting > browser that the box is checked to Connect with 1Password in the browser
1Password works on my mobile devices

My default browser is Chrome and I need help getting the 1Password extension to work in Chrome again.

1Password Version: 8.10.33
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: Windows 11
Browser: Chrome

  • Hello @smwilkes! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password isn't loading in Chrome, thank you for providing a list of the troubleshooting that you've done so far. Is it possible that you have "Update on Reload" turned on in Chrome? Check the following:

    1. Click the menu button in the top right of your browser and choose More Tools > Developer Tools.
    2. In the developer tools pane, click the Application tab. You may have to click the >> button to see this option.
    3. Click Service Workers in the sidebar and turn off Update on Reload, then click X in the developer tools pane.

If that doesn't work, or if Update on Reload was already turned off then please let me know.

    Hi Dave,

When I go to Service workers, I see the boxes of Offline, Update on reload and Bypass for network are all unchecked. Does the boxes being unchecked mean it is turn it on or off?

  • Unchecked is typically off or disabled.

To your suggestion above, upon following your steps, it is noted that the Update on Reload was already turned off.

Thank you for checking that. So that I can investigate further, I'd like to ask for the following:

Attach both files to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:
