1password 7 keeps Reinstalling

I had 1Password for years. I moved to 1Password 8 right when the change happened.
On both of my Macs, I've noticed that 1Password 7 keeps on reinstalling.

How can I make sure that 1Password 7 does not reinstall itself without me knowing?

If it helps, I use both Safari and Chrome extensions. Any help is appreciated!

1Password Version: 8.10.34
Extension Version: 2.24.2
OS Version: 14.5
Browser: Chrome and Safari

  • Hello @marksteffen! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. Can you tell me a little more about how you uninstalled 1Password 7? Did you drag it from the Applications folder to the Trash and then empty the Trash before restarting your Mac?

I've seen reports of 1Password 7 being reinstalled from a few other users and the cause has always turned out to be software that their employer had installed on their Mac to force 1Password 7 to reinstall and stay installed. Are you using a personal Mac or a work Mac? If you're using a work Mac then can you check to see if your IT department might have set a policy that forces 1Password 7 to install itself on your Mac?

I dragged to Applications folder and emptied trash before restarting.

HOWEVER, I just checked, and it looks like it's only been re-installing on my work machine–not my personal–, with whom I have a company Vault installed. This is probably the culprit. I'll check with IT. Thank you!
