Inconsistent apostrophe behavior between iOS and Mac

The default apostrophe on macOS is the straight apostrophe, while the default apostrophe on iOS is the right single quotation mark. This leads to inconsistent item names across platforms, and more importantly, difficulty with search where the apostrophe type does not match exactly. Perhaps one should be converted to the other when entering item details, or the search for one should match both. Regardless of the solution, the problem is frustrating.
