Cmd+Shift+X not working on Brave Browser / Mac

I have 1Password Beta extension on Mac using Brave browser.

When 1Password is locked, cmd+shift+x doesn't open the extension and prompt for unlock.

This used to be the case and it's a keyboard shortcut I've come to rely on.

I've tried going to the extension, disabling the integration, restarting brave browser, and then reenabling the integration (both times it showed connected). This didn't do anything.

1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.10.36 81036031, on BETA chann
Extension Version: 1Password browser extension version 2.26.0 226000
OS Version: macOS 15 Beta 2
Browser: Brave v1.67.123

    Here's a weird twist.

I have Brave setup with two separate application instances, one for personal and one for work; they are not profiles, but actual separate application instances that show up as two apps when both run in the app switching tool.

They each have their own settings, extensions, etc.

The work one, which I installed as normal seems to correctly activate the extension when cmd+shift+x is used. When you manage the extensions and click keyboard shortcuts it shows that's how to activate the extension, and cmd+shift+l to lock it. Both work.

In personal, cmd+shift+x doesn't seem to activate the extension. But cmd+shift+l does lock it when I manually unlock it.

It's really weird, not sure what's going on.

Okay, I think I resolved my issue.

Even though the keyboard shortcut showed in the keyboard shortcuts page for activating 1p in my personal instance of brave, when I went to the settings of 1p extension and clicked appearance and shortcuts the actiavate 1p didn't show, just the lock 1p.

I tried to reset the keyboard shortcut for activate 1p in the manage extensions page. After fiddling around with it a bit, the browser was recognising the shortcut and now activates properly.

    Weird.

  • Thank you for reaching out, @snappy. I'm sorry about the issue you ran into with 1Password.

I've done some testing on my end, removed the "Activate the extension" shortcut and could not activate the extension even if the shortcut appears in the browser's settings field.

If the shortcut does not appear in the 1Password extension settings (screenshot below), it will not work.

I hope that helps. Let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with.
