1Password in dock is corrupted or missing something

Hi,
I have a Mac Mini and several times over the past six months I have logged in to find that the 1Password icon on my dock appears as shown in the attached PNG.

At that point I reinstalled 1Password. I have not had this happen on my MacBook Pro.

I do not log on to this computer very often and I download 1Password from the 1Password app store not from Apple's app store.

As far as the 1Password versions, I have no idea what they were but they are now the most current and very likely not what was installed on the computer.

    Dock icon change:

    1. Remove the current icon from the Dock buy dragging it off of the Dock. The app will need to be fully quit for this action.
    1. Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click (Option-click) on the helper and select Quit.
    2. Quit your browser.
    1. Open the (replaced?) application from the Applications folder and when you see the icon appear in the Dock, right-click and select keep in Dock.
    2. Drag the icon to the desired placement.

    @ag_tommy,
    Thanks for the reply.

First, I do know how to add the icon back into the dock. I was obviously not nearly as clear as I should have been.

Let me try to clarify. I am wondering why my version of 1Password occasionally stops working with the result that the icon for 1Password in the dock is changed to the one I attached.

I am assuming that something about the app results in this change to the icon since I beleive the app icon is provided with the app. I am wondering if the 1Password folks can tell me why this might be happening. Perhaps if a version is too old it will be disabled. What exactly triggers this to happen. Also if this has nothing to do with them I would like to know so I can reach out to Apple.

  • Ok gotcha. I can't say for certain. My itch in the back of my mind is perhaps you were using an expired beta which would require a reinstall. If this continues, I'd recommend allowing our technical team to take a look. Especially, so if this is only happening with 1Password.

Also, if you're using an older version of macOS and have not restarted you might give that a try. There are some posts in the Apple Support communities that describe terminal commands to restart the Dock. I have not personally experienced anything like this in some time now. Years perhaps.

@ag_tommy the this issue has happened again. I noticed it when I just restarted my Mac (not sure if it was happening when I restarted). Specifically when I try to run 1Password I get a message that say the 1Password.app application can't open because the executable is damaged or incomplete.

You mentioned allowing the technical team take a look so I am holding off re-installing the app until I can interact with the technical team.

However, when I go to the support page for 1Password I do not see any way to actually engage with 1Password technical support. What is the best way to get assistance with this?
