Hi There - I opened up a thread before:
https://1password.community/discussion/143636/1password-safari-extension-no-longer-shows-icons#latest

I had a ticket opened for this - but the problem has not been fixed since I raised this. It's been 6 months so far. Any chance of an update on when this might be fixed?

  • Hello @khaosspawn! 👋

Thank you for following up. The internal work item is still open in our development team's backlog, I don't have any updates to share. I'm sorry for the continued inconvenience.

I would like to ask for some more information from your end to add to the issue:

    1. Can you open the 1Password for Mac desktop app, click on your login for the 1Password community, and then click Edit. Click on the down arrow underneath the icon. Do you see Remove icon here? If you do then remove the custom icon and Save the item. Then go back to Safari, do you see the 1Password provided rich icon being displayed now?
    2. How many websites are currently displaying this issue on your end?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Dave,

The issue continues. This is only happening on Safari. Chrome does not have the issue. It's random as to which website it happens on - but it's about 30?

  • @khaosspawn

I'm sorry that you're still seeing the issue. Just to clarify: did you have a custom icon added to the item and removed it? Or did you not have a custom icon added to the item at all?

If you create a new login item for one of the affected items, without adding a custom icon, then do you see the same issue with that new login item?

I have not added icons to these logins. They are being pulled from the website itself. eg. the 1password communities website. Let me try deleting it and adding it back.

Deleting the saved password - and recreating it, now shows the icon.

    @khaosspawn

Thanks for the reply. Just to confirm: did you edit the saved password in the affected item? Or did you delete the item entirely and create a new item?

If it's the latter then it's odd that the affected item still doesn't render properly even though it doesn't have a custom icon. If you restore that old deleted item then can you reproduce the issue again?

I'd like to take a look at the structure of that item by examining the item's JSON. Please send an email to support+forum@1Password.com with a link to this thread. After emailing in, you'll receive a reply from BitBot, our friendly robot assistant with a Support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to locate your message and email you instructions on how to send in a redacted JSON file containing the affected item's structure.

It was the 2nd. Deleted and recreate. Ok I'll go ahead and do that.

  • @khaosspawn

Thank you! Once you've received the autoreply, post the Support ID here and I'll be able to find your email.

Hi Dave - I'm still experiencing the issue. Can you let me know what you'd like me to send? I wasn't able to get to the last request.

That really sucks that it’s been six months and the issue is still hanging around. You already did cleared the cache I assume but maybe a reset from safari for 1Password will help.

  • Re-opening the thread to provide an update: our developers are actively working on a fix for the issue and we hope to be able to share that fix in a beta version of 1Password for Safari in the future.
