Biometrics no longer an option

The browser extension for Chrome no longer allows me to use biometrics to unlock. I am prompted to enter my master password every time.
I believe this became an issue following an upgrade to the version before last. I've seen other mentions of this issue on the likes of Reddit, is this acknowledged formally as an issue?

1Password Version: 8.10.39
Extension Version: 2.26.1
OS Version: 14.6.1
Browser: Chrome

I've had the same issue here for the last few weeks. I've also tried the steps listed in this thread—https://1password.community/discussion/147445/biometrics-no-longer-working/

    1Password Browser Extension Version: 8.10.46.26
    OS Version: Sonoma 14.6.1
    Browser: Chrome 129.0.6668.90

  • Hello @rcoundon and @edinglassie! 👋

I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working with 1Password in Chrome. Are you still able to unlock both your Mac and the 1Password desktop app using Touch ID? Stop here and let me know if you can't.

If you can unlock the 1Password desktop app using Touch ID, and the issue is only occurring with 1Password in Chrome, then try these steps:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Browser.
    5. Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.

    Then in the browser:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
    3. Make sure that "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" is on.

If that still doesn't work then do you see a green dot in the browser settings page? Or a different coloured dot and an error message?

It's sorted now, thanks. I think it was to do with some settings getting reverted after the update. It was a couple of months ago now and I can't remember exactly what I changed to fix it.

I'm sorry for the late reply. Thanks for letting me know that everything is working now.

Thanks for the suggestions. I also had a helpful email from support. The following worked for me:

You may need your Secret Key for these steps.

    1. Right click the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar and choose Settings.
    2. Under General, disable "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app".
    3. Under Accounts & Vaults, sign out of your account.
    4. Sign back into your account.
    5. Go back to General, and re-enable "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app". If you don't have the 1Password app installed, you can skip step 5 and leave app integration disabled.

    Sorted now, thanks 👍
