How do I get to view previous passwords?
I recently changed a password and saved it, but the instructions below at this URL do not work.
https://support.1password.com/item-history/
Instead, nothing appears when hovering over the password field and the drop down only shows "Reveal" and "Show in Large Type".
How do I access a previously saved password now?
Thanks,

Hello @Mork! 👋
To see a previous password for an item in the 1Password for Mac app you can do the following:
- Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
- Click on the item that you wish to view.
- Hover over the password field.
- Click on the down arrow on the right of the password field.
- Click View Password History.
It sounds like you're already following those steps. You will only see the View Password History option if there are previous passwords.
If you still don't see the password history then can you tell me if you changed the password in a Login item (not another type of item) and that you changed the default password field and not a custom password field?

I had changed the password, but it didn't retain the old one. In another login, I do see the "View password history". I'll keep an eye on this
Thanks

I think the problem is that the password field in a secure note does not have the same "password history" as a regular login item. That should be fixed in the next version of 1Password as this inconsistency almost cost me a client.
Thanks,

Additional password fields are not supported as far as password history goes. You may be able to view the item history of the item and locate the password using that method. I've shared your feedback internally with the team.

One additional thought is item history is in the beta version of 1Password (application) if you prefer that method over 1Password.com.
https://releases.1password.com/mac/beta/#1password-for-mac-8.10.46-1
- You can now view item history and restore previous versions of items in the desktop apps.

I'd rather not be a beta tester for my important data, with whatever additional disclaimers I would have to agree to, but thanks.

Understood. I've let the team know that you'd like to see password history supported for custom password fields in the future. Thank you for the feedback! 🙂
In the meantime, as Tommy mentioned, you can restore the entire item using password history on 1Password.com to access the old password: View and restore previous versions of items

@ag_tommy For some reason, the "View previous versions" button doesn't show up in a specific login item, neither in 1Password for Mac nor on 1Password.com.
It does show up for the few other random logins I checked.
How can I see the history for this login item?
