Having the same issue. Same versions of 1password + extension, but macOS 14.5. Updating to the beta extension seems to have made things worse ... it gets stuck on "loading" for a long time repeatedly now, where previously it would take a long time once, and then be quick for subsequent password fills.

  • Hello @savitt! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password in the browser isn't loading properly on your Mac. The latest version of macOS Sonoma is 14.6.1, can you update and then try to reproduce the issue again:

If you run into the same issue after updating then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (browser extension)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

    • A link to this thread: https://1password.community/discussion/148249/chrome-extension-says-loading-on-macos-14-5
    • Your forum username: savitt

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here.  Thanks very much!

It seems to be running better now, but it may be that it was already fixed yesterday by uninstalling and reinstalling the extension. Something definitely changed when I did that: previously when I would click on the 1password icon on the right-hand side of a password field, the "loading..." window would pop down from the 1password extension icon at the top of the browser. Now, instead, the window with the request to enter my master password is attached to the icon in the field I want to fill.

  • @savitt

I'm glad that things are working better now. Let me know if you see the issue return or require any more assistance.

Hi - I'm having the same issue - and even though my settings have biometrics and don't log out, it continues to log out and won't connect to my password that's open on my desktop. It says it cannot connect to the desktop app and has a yellow dot.

    1password MAC 8.10.48
    MAC OS Sonoma 14.7

ps. restarting Chrome it asks me for my password every time and I do have login items set for 1password to run in the background but integration still not connecting.

  • @leighh

I'm sorry that app integration isn't working between 1Password in the browser and the desktop app on your Mac. Please try the following:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Browser.
    5. Turn off "Connect with 1Password in the browser".
    6. Turn on "Connect with 1Password in the browser".

If that still doesn't work then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

Same problem here. And it's not just the loading screen. This version has completely broken the connection to 1P Desktop.

Once you pass the Loading Screen, you will be asked for your password (which shouldn't happen on a linked 1P Desktop). When you sign in, it works for a while, but then automatically signs out again after a while. Rinse and repeat.

    Something is severely kaputt.

Let's keep support findings public in this thread, don't hide it behind support tickets. I am pretty sure more people are affected.

  • @cryptochrome

I'm sorry that you're also running into an issue with app integration. So that I can better understand the situation can you tell me the following:

    1. Which version of 1Password in the browser and the 1Password desktop app are you using?
    2. What version of macOS are you currently using?
    3. Which browser are you using?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @Dave_1P - the integration is working again now. No longer seeing the issue.

    Cheers

  • I'm glad that everything is working again. 🙂

@Dave_1P I spoke to soon. The issue appears to be back:

I updated to the latest 1P version today and that broke the integration with the browser again.

    Current versions:
    Desktop: 1Password for Mac 8.10.52 (81052014)
Browser: 1Password browser extension version 8.10.48.25
Also tested: 1Password browser extension version 8.10.52.14

  • @cryptochrome

I'm sorry that the issue has returned. Try the following:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Browser.
    5. Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.

    Then in the browser:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
    3. Turn "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" off.
    4. Turn "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" back on.

If that still doesn't work then do you see the yellow dot in the browser settings page? Or a different coloured dot and a different error message?
