Can't save a passkey: "All vaults are disabled"

I currently have 15 passkeys in 1Password and they work fine. In trying to add two additional passkeys for Google accounts, I'm presented with the following. Why would my vaults be disabled, and how do I enable them so I can add the passkeys? I've never seen this before.

Will do. Everything seems to be working fine now, but I'm not initiating the process from the setup page on passkeys.directory...I'm just going directly to wherever I want to add a passkey and doing so from my account there.

Thank you for the reply. If you had at least one vault enabled then it sounds like you might have run into a different issue. If you do see the message again then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (browser extension)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here.  Thanks very much!

The first thing I checked was if there was a check mark beside all my vaults…and there was. I didn’t if that indicated they were enabled or not. So that wasn’t the issue. Whatever it was, it’s working now. Thanks.

  • Hello LarryMcJ! đź‘‹

I'm sorry that you ran into issues when saving a passkey. The "All vaults are disabled" message will usually appear if all of your vaults are turned off. If you see the message again then try the following:

    1. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
    2. Click Accounts & vaults.
    3. Make sure that the appropriate vaults are turned on.

If you see the issue again and the above doesn't work then let me know and I can investigate further to see why the message might be appearing for you.

This is now working...though I'm not sure why. I was starting the process from within 1Password, displaying the new Passkeys available via Watchtower. I clicked on "Use Passkey" for the login, went to the passkey setup page, and ended up with the above screenshot.

To resolve it, instead of starting within 1Password, I signed into the Google account, added a passkey, followed the prompts, and it worked fine.
