When using Microsoft Authenticator to sign into a Microsoft account, I have to enter a number. 1Password has a popup asking whether I want to save password.

This is an unwanted popup since I will never save the number

How to disable popup?

I was looking for the same thing. This seemed to have just started for me. I use MS Authenticator all the time for different accounts for work and it is quite annoying to have it offer to save all the time for the OTP.

    Same here.

I looked thru my accounts, but can't find what's triggering it.

Same here. Or add "Never for this Site" to the list of current options ("Don't Save" and "Save", I think) so that I never have to see the popup in the MS Authenticator app, again. It pops up every time I get an request on the MS Authenticator app and I sometimes get a lot of requests via the authenticator app.

This is a new "feature" and I'm not a fan. Also looking to disable it.

I opened an issue with support and they say

The auto-save popup is a feature released in the latest version of the 1Password for the Android app. It cannot be turned off without disabling Autofill in the 1Password for Android app.

Obviously disabling Auto fill is defeating one of the main uses of 1Password.

    Support goes on to say

However, we've received reports of this popup appearing when opening certain apps, including the Microsoft Authenticator app. We've created an issue for our development team to investigate further and for an option to possibly add an option to toggle this feature off/on. I've added you as an affected user to our internal reporting.

I replied to support with this thread in case they want to link it to their internal ticket.

@EvonG1P I'm having the same issue. I can imagine the challenge of handling the behavior of apps and websites while maintaining security. Please add me to the list of people interested in a fix.

  • Thank you for the report, @RSCNJ. I've added you to the tracker.

While I have experienced the same issue, I have noticed the behavior is around prompting the keyboard for an input. I received the same 1pass notification when updating the Security PIN in Settings to unlock my Pixel.

Hey @EvonG1P , I just want to piggyback on the comment left by BloodyBulwark and confirm that this is NOT just Authenticator. The pop-up happens basically anywhere that a keyboard input is prompted.

  • @BloodyBulwark,

I appreciate you sharing the details! I've reported this to our developers.

    @rainman369,

Can you provide an example of a specific app or website where this happens when the keyboard input is requested?

Hi, I'm having the same issue when I go into the android security settings, like face unlock. Anytime I'm require to enter my phone's pin, the 1Password banner pops up, "Save username and password to 1Password?"

Same issue when I enter my PIN for Auth 2FA app.

    Annoying.

  • I'm sorry for the inconvenience, @marmot401. I've added you to our internal report as well.

It appears fixed. I used Microsoft authenticator a bunch this week, and no more popups.
    Nice work!

@EvonG1P do you know if this has been officially resolved?

I am using 1Password for Android 8.10.52 on Android 14 (Samsung S24 Ultra). I am still getting authenticator popups when completing Microsoft Conditional Access prompts (number plus fingerprint) in Microsoft Authenticator.

    Thank you

  • @darkHome,

I have reviewed the ongoing issue, and our development team is still working towards a resolution.

Just another data point. I'm running the same versions as @darkHome on Samsung S24+ (kernel 6.1.57-android14 Oct 25 2024) but it's been resolved for me for a couple of weeks or so. I'm running Authenticator 6.2410.7271.

@EvonG1P Here is a screenshot, if it helps. Blacked out is the MS Auth App in the background.

  • Hello everyone,

Our developers are currently testing a fix in the latest beta to only prompt to autosave when both username and password fields are present on screen in an app. We're interested in learning if the fix resolves the issue for you. If you're willing to try the beta then you can find steps here:

If you try the beta then let me know if that resolves the issue for you.

As I said in the other issue 148969, using Android 1P 8.10.56 (81056009) Beta it's not working, I still got both: Auto fill for the number field and the following prompt to save this to 1P.

    1Password Version: 8.10.56-22.BETA
    Device Info: Pixel 8 - Android 15 - ap4a.241205.013.c1
    com.azure.authenticator version: 6.2412.8087

Still having the pop-up to save password when approving a Microsoft Authenticator request (with biometrics)

Well, just to update...this was fixed for me (Nov 6 post) and now it is again asking consistently every time I use MS authenticator.

@Dave_1P - Has there been any progress at all? Not sure what happened as it was working.

The behaviour had been resolved (yah!) but has returned today (boo!). Once again asking to 'Save username and password to 1Password' after 2FA from Microsoft Authenticator for Office365 sign in.

Like the 2 previous posters, this problem has reappeared for me. I'm running the same versions they are. As I reported above, the problem was resolve around November 1. I noticed in the last couple of days, it is back.

    1Password: 8.10.56 (updated 3 days ago)
MS Authenticator: 6.2412.8087 (updated 6 days ago)
    Samsung S24+, Android 14, One UI 6.1

I noticed that the 8.10.56 Release Notice has "You'll now be able to turn off Offer to save logins" I saw a global switch under Autofill settings but nothing that is app-specific. Is this breaking again related to this change?
