No TouchID option to unlock using Firefox extension

Just reinstalled 1password (8.10.50) from scratch, including Firefox extension. The desktop app unlocks with TouchID but the Firefox extension will not. Settings in the extension are correct (integration on, app unlocked, etc) but it says "Integration Status: Connection Problem" followed by a yellow dot, and on the next line it says "Please make sure 1Password app is unlocked", which it already is. The only way to unlock the extension is to enter the password again, which is a huge pain

1Password Version: 8.10.50
Extension Version: 8.10.48.25
OS Version: macOS Sonoma 14.6.1
Browser: Firefox 131.0.3

  • Hello @danmills! 👋

Thank you for the reply. It sounds like the communication between the desktop app and 1Password in the browser isn't working. Try this:

    1. Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
    2. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Click Browser.
    5. Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.

Then reset app integration in the browser:

    1. Open your browser.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
    3. Turn "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" off.
    4. Turn "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" on.

If that still doesn't work then do you see a green dot in the browser settings page? Or a different coloured dot and an error message?
