No Password Generator shown

I was in an app on my iPhone the other day and in the process of creating an account. I put in my email address and then it asks for a cell number, etc.... The problem is when I come to the "create a password" box. I clicked in there and it doesn't give an option to create a new password for this entry. I believe I have 1Password fully setup in iOS (and Safari) but since this is technically in a separate app and not the web browser, I think it is getting confused???

Any suggestions?
Thanks

    Hello @AZBigdog! 👋

Thank you for reaching out! I'm sorry that you're running into issues when generating a new password. As a start, make sure that AutoFill is setup to work with 1Password on your iPhone:

    1. On the Home screen, tap Settings.
    2. Tap Passwords > Password Options.
    3. Turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys.
    4. Select 1Password.

Then, in the app that you're using, tap on the password field. Do you see a "Passwords" prompt appear above your keyboard? It might also look like a key. If you do see the prompt then tap on it and follow these steps to create, save, and fill a new password: Use 1Password to save logins and sign in to apps and websites on your iPhone and iPad

If you don't see the "Passwords" prompt above your keyboard then you can open the main 1Password app to generate and save a new password and then copy and paste it into the app that you're using: Use the password generator to change and strengthen your passwords

    I hope that helps.

    Hi Dave,

That did eventually come up. Not sure why it didn't at first. Although I had to manually add a password field first before it prompted to generate one. This brings about a second question. Is there a way to have a password generator come up without first have to create a login entry, etc.?

With more and more sites being replaced by dedicated apps (where the URL is not even listed, maybe there could be type just for that?? (just thinking out loud). In the example I used above, they don't even really have a true website to log into with your credentials, after confirming identity, it essentially refers you back to the app. So the 1Password login entry for this site doesn't even really work. I have to copy/paste manually.

Thanks for the reply. You can create a new Login item and generate a password right from inside of the app using AutoFill:

    1. Open the app in question.
    2. Tap on the password field in the app and then on the "Passwords" prompt above your keyboard.
    3. When the 1Password window opens, tap + New item.
    4. Enter your username (if there is one) and then tap on password and Create a New Password to use the password generator. Tap Use.
    5. Tap Save & Fill.

If that doesn't work then can you share the name of the app in question?
