1Password is restricted for violating Mozilla policies. Why?

My 1Password icon was missing this morning, went to check my addons in Firefox and discovered it had been automatically disabled with the message: "1Password is restricted for violating Mozilla policies". I am able to "force" re-enable it "at my own risk", but I find this concerning. What is the problem and what is the fix?

    kevwil – "1Password in the browser" and the 1Password browser extension are interchangeable terms. You might see documentation that refers to one or the other, but they're both the same.

    Crucially, the main thing is that the currently supported version of the 1Password browser extension is 8.10.56, in line with the current versions of the main 1Password apps for macOS, iOS, Windows, Android, and Linux.

    What is "1Password in the browser" and how is that different from the browser extension? The linked page does not explain.

    4.7.5.90 is the former 1Password Classic extension. It's no longer supported and has not been updated since 2019-06-25. We recommend considering 1Password in the browser for your needs. Which is our current offering.
