1Password keeps forgetting my chosen Collection

I often find that 1Password has reverted to the default Collection rather than staying on my chosen Collection.

I know it has changed when I use ⌘-\ and I'm offered passwords from a vault I do not want to see so I head back into the app and change it back again.

I suspect but have not proven it is after an update.

Same problem here. Semi-regularly when I open 1Password, it has reverted to "All Accounts". I select my preferred collection and it sticks for, at most, the rest of the day. And then it reverts. Sigh.

  • Hello @iwaddo and @rlh! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password isn't remembering the last collection that you had open. Some of my colleagues have been able to reproduce the issue on our end and an investigation is open to get this fixed in a future version of 1Password.

At the moment, the behaviour that we've seen is that 1Password may reset to your entire account (or "All Accounts" if you're using multiple accounts) if you soft-close 1Password using Command-Q or hide it and then re-open it. Does this match the behaviour that you're seeing? Or are you able to share different reproduction steps?

@Dave_1Password Hi, I cannot reproduce the issue using either of the two suggested methods. I've tried Command-Q and hiding several times but each time it reopens to my selected collection. Inevitable really :-)

I'll update here if I find anything.

I'll stop reporting it for now but please let us know when you believe a fix has been released so I can keep an eye on it.

  • @iwaddo

Thanks again for the report. If, in the future, you're able to narrow things down to a specific set of reproduction steps then let me know and I can pass that along to the team as well.

The internal work item tracking this item is numbered 34508 and you'll see it noted in our release notes once it's been resolved: 1Password Releases

@Dave_1P What you describe is what I experience. Cmd-Q or clicking the red, close-window to hide "generally" results in All Accounts being selected next time I open 1Password. However, it has to be closed for some undetermined amount of time before this happens; if I Cmd-Q, count to 5, and then open it (and thus NOT asked for my password or Touch-ID) the Collection is remembered. I'm sorry I can't give a definitive answer on how long it takes to break.

I've not yet managed to recreate the issues but as part of my testing I was surprised to see this screen suggesting I had no vaults!!

A few clicks later and I got the Ooops error then everything seemed to go back to normal.

The collection in the main app is still as expected.

  • @rlh

Thank you for confirming one set of reproduction steps for the issue.

  • @iwaddo

That's definitely odd behaviour. If you see 1Password in the browser tell you that you don't have any vaults again in the future then I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (browser extension)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

    • Your forum username: iwaddo

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here.  Thanks very much!
