Database Backup Failed

Since installing 1Password 4, I get the following error message whenever I startup or login on one of my Macs:

Database Backup Failed
The 1Password Database could not be backed up. Database exists buyt is invalid. One or more key files may be missing.

How can I find the root cause and resolve this issue?

Thank you.

    Hi @DavidAKnopf and @dajen

Please quit and restart 1Password Mini. That should get things working for you :)

Hi Megan, Thanks but unfortunately that has not solved the problem. Whenever I power up my Mac, I get this message during startup. Oddly, although I have installed 1Password 4, the icon in the error message window is the 1Password 3 icon. I cannot start my Mac without getting this error. It is as if some part of 1Password 3 is still running on my machine. What do you suggest? Thanks.

    Hi @DavidAKnopf,

I'm sorry to hear that my little trick didn't fix things for you! In order to see if there is a little bit of 1Password 3 causing troubles in your system, I'd like to ask you to send us a Diagnostics Report.

Download the 1Password Troubleshooting utility and follow the instructions to generate the report.

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@ agilebits .com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

Just to let you all know mine seems to be working again now. Fingers crossed.

  • Hi @RDH,

That's great news, thanks for the update!

Restarting 1password mini only solves the problem until the next reboot. After I reboot I still get the same error.

@Megan, I sent in the diagnostic report, still waiting to hear back.

For anyone else still having this problem, I managed to cobble together an AppleScript that I set to run at login that opens 1Password and restarts 1Password Mini. You can download it here: http://data.abrandom.com/pubdata/AppleScript/1Password-Mini-Restarter.app.zip

    Hi @justn,

Thanks for sending along that Report! We'll work with you via email until everything is resolved so that we are not duplicating efforts or creating any confusion. :)
