Feature request: Hide questions

Hello there,

In the process of setting up 1Password, I changed ALL of my passwords to 20 character alpha-symbol-numeric random passwords. I had a very hard time changing my Apple ID's password, as I wasn't able to remember the exact answers to my security questions.

After contacting iTunes Security department and all, I managed to reset all them, and I wrote down to 1Password all the answers to the questions. My suggestion is: Could you add the ability to hide certain fields? Because if I click on my Apple credentials, password is hidden but questions aren't, and they can still be used to access my user, change my password, and all!

Thanks. :)

  • Hey @pol,

    From the known issues page:

When adding custom fields, only text type is currently supported. This means you cannot choose a password type to make the field concealable like the main password fields at this time.

It's coming though! In fact, it was introduced in the latest beta version. Hopefully it won't be too long.

Also, just to be clear, all your data stored in 1Password is encrypted. Just because the field isn't "concealed", doesn't mean it isn't secure. Concealing the field will just stop people who are looking at your screen from seeing it.

    Hope that helps! :D

    Thanks @JasperP!

I know it is encrypted, but still, I think it might be a great feature! It's great it's coming. :)

A useful scenario might be if you're at a college or work and need to check a password. If the questions are visible, anyone could "see too much".

@pol You're welcome. I agree that there are times when having your security answers concealed is a good idea! :)
