Clarification of Vault Password [resolved]

Why does a new vault need a password? I have a master password ABC (for example). I created a vault with that same password, ABC. (I don't know why I would select a different one. At any rate...) I then changed the master password to XYZ.

I could still access the vault.

So, what is the purpose of the vault password?

Thank you.

When you unlock 1Password with your Master Password to the Primary vault. It unlocks all vaults as the Primary vault knows the secondary vault passwords (more correctly the keys).

You could unlock the secondary vaults with the secondary Master Password if you first switch to that vault from the 1Password menu in the menubar.

The team made it this way so you don't have to remember the secondary passwords. Just 1 Master Password would be all most people would use.

Example : Your boss creates a vault and shares it with you (Its your secondary or more vault). Then all you do is enter your Master Password and your in you don't need to remember his and yours.
