1P 4.1.1 Not Filling in Identity Phone Number in Forms on Safari

  • Hi @kentmccullough,

Sorry for the trouble! Our developers are still working on improving phone number filling for a future update. :)

You say you are working on "improving" phone number filling.

In my experience, 1PW does not fill in phone numbers at all, so it's a lot more than improvement needed.

Why is it so difficult? I can understand that (with different ways of writing phone numbers, including international codes, etc) it might be difficult to get accurate filling, but it surprises me that it fails completely.

    Hi @danco,

We have considered and filed these reports of phone number filling failures as bugs. I'll remind the developers that this is a more general issue and concern, with its ease of failure likely exceeding that of success.

It is very disappointing that is taking weeks for this fix. I am losing confidence in this software. I paid good money and I have a hard time believing you can't find a way to populate phone number. It's taken to middle May to realize it a 'general issue and concern'??

This was first reported on Dec 8, 2013, over 5 months ago. How many more months do you anticipate it taking to get this fixed? Maybe you should just make a note in your issue tracker that it is still an issue and a concern.

Nearly 6 months have passed since the OP started this thread on 8th Dec. This doesnt give end users much confidence in development resources.

I started a thread last week on the same subject plus other issues with missing fields I am used to using in the past with Roboform. No reply to my post or likelihood of fix any time soon also doesnt give much confidence... http://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/25048/identities-some-default-fields-or-custom-fields-not-auto-filling#latest

Am now disappointed to have thought 1P was more developed than it is and spent quite a bit of time working on transitioning over only to now realise Roboform is the more reliable solution across all platforms and time to go back...

I'll say once more that I, and many other users, just cannot understand why this is so difficult for the developers. An explanation would help reassure us.

There have been other times (just occasional sites) where some field does not get filled in properly, but usually I can understand the reason.

Ah the ever question about filling a phone number... Yeah, I hate it too

I tried to fix it in 4.2 but there's always websites which we can't identify what to fill; we're very bad when the phone number is split into multiple fields. Figuring out how to put the digits in is only one half of the problem. We also need to identify which phone number we put in; an identity has 4 possible phone numbers; which might actually be your issue (as a workaround put a phone number in all 4 fields: Default, Home, Cell, Business)

If you could give us URLs where phone filling is failing that would help us: we're still trying to keep our number of hardcoded sites to a minimum and rely on a generic algorithm but sometimes, I fear, there's no choice.

I don't understand why you keep asking for example urls... EVERY website I try to fill in will not accept the phone number. Could you give me an example url where a phone number does paste?

It doesn't matter if it's one field or a 3-field format, nothing get's pasted in any field. I have the same phone number set in my identity for default, home, work and cell. No matter what the field format on the the website, the number will not paste. It seems that it should at least paste the default number in fields that are one field but nothing happens.

Given the fact that this happens at ALL websites and that this worked in 1PW3, the problem probably lies within 1PW4, no?

@eliotf@mac.com‌ 1PW4 uses the same "engine" to fill as 1PW3, so I'm looking elsewhere. My very basic test form fills the phone number perfectly. As for real world examples, this form fills the telephone correctly

Ok, that is super interesting -- I tried both your test form and the link to the contest form. My phone number did not fill on either page. I also have the problem that phone numbers never work, so I am very interested in helping to find a solution. Please let me know what information I can provide to help you troubleshoot.

I'm not sure who all will be notified otherwise, but I'd like to mention @danco @hot_guitar‌ @msvideo‌ @yndara and @kentmccullough‌ since you all are the most recent members to comment. And eliotf, but your username doesn't let me "mention" you :)

The latest version (4.2.1) should fix phone number filling on most sites. If you all could confirm that for us and let us know if you still find sites that aren't working, that'd be awesome.

To explain slightly, the issue with phone numbers seems to have been only on the Mac side because of the difference in how the Mac and Windows apps were communicating with the extension (which is the same everywhere). Since Philippe was testing the extension on Windows, he saw it working while the rest of us did not.

We're all glad to have it sorted out, though. Thanks everyone for making your voices heard! :)

I just tried out the test sites linked in that earlier post, and they worked for me, as did another site that I tried. Glad to have it figured out, thanks for the fix!
