Disabling new version check

Is it possible to turn off checking for a new version every single time I click on the browser extension to fill a password? I currently live in China and it takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute to check for a new version as the internet speed here is brutally slow. It is really, really annoying to say the least.

    File > Preferences (Ctrl+P) > Updates

    Great. Thank you. I had it set to check monthly, but it kept checking every time I used it. Now I disabled the auto update and it works fine.

    I had it set to check monthly, but it kept checking every time I used it.

    If the check cannot complete (because you do not have an Internet connection to our web server, for exampe) then it is going to check again and again until it does work.
