[Sidebar] Categories order resets after manually rearranging [try mini restart after rearranging]
Version 4.2.2 (422001)
While I can move categories up and down, the order reverts after any of the following:
- Closing and reopening the app
- Entering, then exiting edit mode for an item
- Manually reordering an item in Favorites

Hi @stormchild,
Are you having this problem with your primary and/or secondary vaults. Please try restarting 1Password mini after doing the reordering and let me know if that gets it to stick. Thanks!

I can reorder categories on my primary vault (by dragging them up or down) and they remain in that order when I switch between vaults, or quit/then re-open the app. However, any tweaks I make to my secondary vault are NOT retained.

Thanks for your prompt reply! Quitting 1Password & 1Password Mini by pressing Control + Command + Q from within 1Password did the trick! But of course it could be argued that this still should be considered a "bug" to be fixed in a future release - in that it requires an extra, unintuitive step. Ideally the app would just handle it all behind the scenes - or minimally inform the user (after making such tweaks) that a special shut-down/quit procedure is required.

You're welcome, @somainer.
This is definitely a bug. I've updated the issue in our tracker with additional information from you and @stormchild.
Thanks for confirming that restarting 1Password mini is a successful workaround.

Thanks for the suggestions. Quitting 1P Mini ... quitting 1P ... Relaunching 1P fixed it for me. The problem existed on our iMac but not our MBP. We have a single vault.

Just noticed that I have a similar problem. I have previously been able to re-order some categories but, now when I tried to move the Password category it immediately went back to its former location as soon as I locked and re-openend 1Password. Whatever the problem, its is not related to having multiple vaults as I have only a single vault. Finally managed to re-order the password category by stopping and re-starting 1Password-mini but, I'd much prefer if there were an easier way.

Hi @ove,
I'm sorry you're having this problem with the Category order (although I'm glad the workaround was successful). Can you confirm which exact version of 1Password you're using on your Mac? From the main app, go to the menu for 1Password > About 1Password for version information. Thanks!

Hi Drew,
Sorry that I forgot to mention my version of 1Password. The version I have is 1Password 5/Version 5.1 (510035)/Agile Web Store, and I am running on Mac OS X 10.10.2. If there is any other information you need, please let me know.

Thanks @ove! :)
Our developers are working on solving this issue, although I don't have any timeframe for when a fix will be available. In the meantime, if you need to reorder the Categories again, the workaround is to restart 1Password mini. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
If you have more questions, please let us know. :)

Hi Drew
Thanks for the information. 1Password is altogether great software and I can easily live with the workaround until you have it fixed.
Thanks

We always like hearing that people love 1Password  and hopefully you don't have to wait too long for that fix.

I was having a problem reordering secondary vaults too.
I didand quit from the key on the menu.
That has done it for me too.0 -
Sorry, I forgot to mention I am using:
1Password 4
Version 4.4.3 (443000)
Agile Web Store
With OS X 10.8.20 -
Hi @BobAllison,
Thanks for posting about this. To make sure I understand correctly, do categories in the sidebar stay reordered if you use the workaround of restarting 1Password mini after reordering them?

I had mini running and opened 1PW. Reordering did not seem to stay after a cmd-Q to close 1PW, but after I quit the mini they did. I meant just to confirm that the work-around worked for me too.

Good to know that workaround also works in 1Password 4. Thanks for taking time to let us know, @BobAllison. Cheers! :+1:
