Two 1Password icons in Firefox toolbar
Firefox 29.0.1 shows two 1Password icons in the toolbar. One is "1P"; the other a key. They have the same functionality, but only the "1P" causes a hint popup.

For whatever reason, FF 29 defaults to showing every extension in the toolbar. Here's how to fix it:
In Firefox, click on the Open menu button at the far right end of the toolbar.
Click on Customize in the lower-left corner of the panel that appears.
In the Firefox toolbar, note that the "1P" has changed to "Show 1Password".
Right-click on Show 1Password, and choose Remove from Toolbar.
Click on the green Exit Customize button.
I hope that helps, @reiddg. Please let us know how it goes.

That didn't actually work as suggested. Instead, I right clicked on the 'key' icon in the FF toolbar, and selected 'remove'. The 1P icon produced no context menu. Now I have the 1P icon which seems to work fine. The 'key' icon now shows up in the 'add-ons' page as something that can be added.

You should actually have the key and not have the "1P" icon.
I ask that you uninstall the 1Password extension from Firefox, reinstall it from the Browsers tab of 1Password preferences, and (if both icons appear in the Firefox toolbar) try the steps above again.
Please let us know how it goes.
