1Password Service?

Can someone explain what the 1Password service running under windows does? The description says "Provides auto-unlock for 1Password in Internet Exporer" (sic). What exactly does that mean?

    Hi @foamx,

It means that if you unlock the main 1Password app, it can then unlock the 1Password extension that's installed in Internet Explorer. Both the 1Password program and 1Password extensions are running in separate processes, so the background service allows for the communication between both the program and the extension. It does things like passing your data between both processes for filling in your data and auto-saving your new Logins and also syncing up the locking and unlocking system for the Universal Unlock feature.

You can find out more information here: http://www.manula.com/manuals/agilebits/knowledgebase/1password4/en/topic/1password-processes?q=processes
