Why doesn't the 1Password 4 for Windows have a license file, only license keys?

    Hi @KeithWeisshar‌,

It does have a license file. When you enter your license key, 1Password will validate the license with our license validation server and if it is validated, it will pull in the rest of the information and store it in a local license file called OPW4.license. It'll be stored in your %APPDATA% folder for AgileBits.

Is the license validation server also used when checking for updates?

Is the license key valid with beta versions of 1Password 4 for Windows?

Why does using Replace License still connect to the license validation server instead of key already exists if I click OK with the same license key?

  • Hi @KeithWeisshar‌,

No and as long as you have the license file, it will never check again.

    Yes.

Why does using Replace License still connect to the license validation server instead of key already exists if I click OK with the same license key?

It checks every time you enter a license key, even if you simply press OK and/or enter the same key. It's just a simple check.
