ChilkatCrypt2 DLL Unable to Register During Installation?

Hello,

I am unable to install 1Password on my Windows server because I am getting an error that I need your help with please. Here is the error:

C:\Windows\system32\ChilkatCrypt2.dll
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3

I am logged in as the root administrator on a machine running Windows Server 2008 R2. I am running the installer as administrator. This is a fresh OS install with all updates completed, and the only AV program running is Microsoft Security Essentials. I have exempted the install program from MSE.

Please help!

Thank you.

    @RYKSebastino‌ Please try this:

    1. Download ChilkatCrypt2.zip here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ky5gnzgm97l7juh/ChilkatCrypt2.zip
    2. Unzip and then copy ChilkatCrypt2.dll into C:\Windows\System32
    3. Click Start, and locate the "Command Prompt" menu item (buried deep inside Accessories under All Programs).
    4. Right click on "Command Prompt".
    5. On the pop-up right click context menu, select "Run as Administrator".
    6. Type this: "cd C:\Windows\System32" (no quotes)
    7. Type this: "regsvr32.exe ChilkatCrypt2.dll" (no quotes).

Are you seeing any error messages?

Thanks for your response! I followed your exact instructions, and here is the error I'm getting:

("RegSvr32" (no quotes) is the title of the error window.)

"The module "ChilkatCrypt2.dll" failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.

The specified module could not be found."

What should I try next please?

    Thank you.

Sounds like your system is missing a dependency. Not sure which one.

Let's start with repairing your Windows installation, using SFC /SCANNOW

    Instructions are here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

    http://www.dependencywalker.com/

That tool might help you track down missing dependencies.

Thank you. I just ran the scf scan and it says that "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." That's not terribly unsurprising because I just freshly installed this Windows Server 2008R2 installation just a few hours ago.

I don't have a clue how to install or use Dependency Walker or even how to interpret what it would tell me. Please either provide some guidance or let me provide you with the login credentials to my server so that you can run it.

    Thank you.

It's a zipped exe download, so no installation necessary. Just unzip and run.
Then click the Open icon and select the ChilkatCrypt2.dll file.
It will then show you a list of all of the static dependencies. Each dependency also lists it's own dependencies in a tree structure.
It should look something like this:

Run it on your server and then post the screenshot like mine.

Okay, great! Even I can do that. Looks like there are some errors...

Now what would you suggest please? :)

    Thanks in advance!

Could you re-screenshot it with the tree collapsed down so that we can see all of the files directly under chillkatcrypt2.dll?
And then do another one with the middle panel (the one with the file errors expanded to be as large as possible.

@RYKSebastino‌ Please download and install the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package:

Hi! This screenshot is after I installed the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package. Let me know if you need other screen shots.
