iOS 8 & Dropbox syncing issues
Since upgrading to iOS 8 and the latest 1Password, I seem to be having flaky issues with Dropbox syncing. I have checked my settings, and it's pointing to the right Dropbox account & 1Password location, and have even verified that Dropbox has the latest data -- i.e. I have checked for and found a new file in iOS Dropbox under data\default for a new password that was just added today, but it's not showing up in 1Password.
Doing a manual sync from Settings > Sync > Sync Now will just leave it at "Syncing..." even after 15 minutes.
For what it's worth, a couple weeks ago after an upgrade, I was getting weird syncing warnings about it pointing to the wrong 1Password location, even though they were the same, and there was only one or two file differences.

I have the same problem

I am also having the same issue and was getting the same warning saying my Dropbox location was incorrect. It also asked if I wanted to merge the vaults. The syn never completes and the counter goes up to 39 and resets. The items field just bounces. Very frustrating !!!!

Hi folks,
Could you please try restarting your iOS device, and try setting up Dropbox sync again?
Please let us know how it turns out.
Thanks!

I have shut down my devices and did a hard reset. When you mean set up Dropbox sync do I need to delete the data in my dropbox and reset up???
I have also tried syncing to Icloud. The sync is doing the same thing as DropBox. The Last Sync now shows 8 mins ago and keeps counting. The Items field just bounces. So as it stands now I can't sync at all !!!! Frustrating !!!0 -
Resetting the phone alone doesn't change anything. Still continues "Syncing..." indefinitely.
When changing Dropbox syncing, it warned that I would lose my local 1Password cache. I went ahead and did it, though I did so reluctanly as I wasn't sure if I had info in my iOS 1Password that was never synced with Dropbox, and was afraid I would lose some passwords. It then showed a screen titled "SMCloudKitInfo" that just said "One moment please..." for about 3-5 minutes, then finally took me back to the sync screen where I could set up Dropbox syncing again.
It does look like it kept my local cache (didn't wipe out passwords still in iOS 1Password) despite the warning. But trying to resync with Dropbox, it gave me the same "Vault Mismatch" warning (though I know I'm using the same vault as before). Going to merge info, it shows 220 in Dropbox, 206 in my iOS vault.
Continuing with the merge seemed to get me back, with the latest items from Dropbox. Though I'm skeptical if the sync settings will stick, as I basically went through the same process as before, and it's currently showing only 165 items in my "Sync" screen, though the merge comparison showed 220 in Dropbox.

I am at a total loss at this point. Both Icloud sync or Dropbox sync won't work for me. When trying to sync both do the same thing. The counter for sync just keeps going and the item field just continues to bounce. I even have the same issue on my Ipad. This issue needs to be resolved.

My sync stopped working on ios8 too :-(

Folks,
Can you please try adding a secure note on each device and see if it syncs to all of your other devices? E.x. On your iPhone add a Secure Note titled "iPhone" and on your Mac add a Secure Note titled "Mac." The Mac note should appear on the iPhone and vice versa.
Please let us know if that is working.
Thanks.

I am having similar issues as above. I recently added a login to my iMac version of 1Password, and it immediately uploaded to Dropbox. I double-checked the Dropbox account on the web to be sure the change was there, and it was. But the change won't show up on my iPhone 6 running 8.1, even after a manual sync is requested. Syncing doesn't appear to be working on iOS 8.

Same problem on both my iPad and my iPhone. If I disable Dropbox sync and set it back up, the sync will work for a few hours. It then stops and I get the indefinite "syncing" message when I check settings. I have tried restarting both devices, and I get the same results.
I have also tried adding a secure note as suggested above. My iPhone, on which I disabled and reenabled Dropbox sync a few minutes ago, will exchange secure notes between itself and my PC. My iPad, on which I have not reset the sync, does not send its own secure note or receive the secure notes from my other two devices.

If there are no unsynced items on the iOS devices in question please uninstall the 1Password app from them [this will remove all 1Password data from the device -- unsynced changes will be lost] and reinstall the iOS app. Once installed, re-setup syncing.
Please let us know how this turns out.
Thanks.

I was having the same problem. As you suggested, I deleted 1Password from my iOS device and reinstalled it. I activated Dropbox syncing and it brought all my data in and appears to be syncing all changes now without a problem. B)

Longtime user - never any syncing issues till now - iPhone doesn't sync since iOS upgrade. I also have two folders in Dropbox - 1Password folder and 1Password.agilekeychain_old (this one seems like newer one since it was last active yesterday, so I imagine this is the vault to sync to(?)). I tried uninstalling 1Password app and reinstalling - did not work. I'm frustrated and require help. Thanks

Well I had a problem with my iPhone 6 not sync with Dropbox. When putting files into Dropbox on my iMac, looking in Finder everything worked. But my iPhone did not update, it seemed. But when I Launched the Dropbox icon on my iMac from the Application menu the icon of course appeared on top of the screen and started doing the sync thing. Then I checked my iPhone and now everything was in sync. Hope this can be use full.

I had the same problem and it didn't sync from my iMac to iOS.
The problem was solved for me by updating the Dropbox app on my iMac.0 -
I've had Dropbox syncing issues since upgrading to iOS 8. My issue is that 1password doesn't sync with Dropbox on it's own. I set up the app so that it can find the file on Dropbox it needs, it then proceeds to accomplish the initial sync, but doesn't sync again after that. When you tap on the Sync Now label, it doesn't do anything. I've tried deleting the Dropbox connection, and then set it up again by re-navigating back to the key file in Dropbox. Again, it will sync initially, and bring everything up to date, but then fails to sync again after that. Running the most recent version of everything, both on my phone, and my Mac. I've also had the same issue on my iPad mini. Basically, automatically syncing the data across all devices using Dropbox isn't working.

@bwoodruff - if uninstalling the app, considering I upgraded from 1Password 4 to 1Password5 on iOS, will my iOS device realise it's still got the Pro features after deleting/reinstalling, considering there is no previous 1Password 4 data on my device after I uninstall it?
If you can clarify that part, I'll give this a go - my Dropbox syncing is also temperamental, but I haven't tried the workaround of uninstall/reinstall yet.

What helped me was to update the Dropbox app. Apparently mine was 'about to be retired' which I only found out about when I quit and restarted it in desparation. No errors from 1Password, no messages from within Dropbox except after restarting. Installing the new version fixed my issues.

Folks, we are tracking a Dropbox syncing issue right now that we believe could be caused by 1Password's use of background app refresh. One thing to try would be to disable your Dropbox sync setup in 1Password, set it up again, and then disable background app refresh. You can disable background app refresh for 1Password in the Settings app by tapping on General > Background App Refresh.

I tired it. Still doing the same thing as before.

I came here to search for the same problem.
Mine has been doing the same thing for the last month or so; I think since when the new 1Password app came out.
In iOS it syncs via Dropbox for a few days and then stops. I then have to setup the sync service via Drobbox again and then it re-syncs and then stops again next time I look (which may be a few days later).
Happens with iPad and iPhone (both on 8.1), OSX 10.10 is OK. I have the latest versions of all apps/OS's. I have done this new setup a few times now (about 4+) and finally decided to come to the forums to have a look to see if anyone else was having this issue.
Also when I try to manually sync in iOS (via the "Sync Now" button in 1Password Settings); it changes "Sync Now" to the "Syncing.." label for a brief millisecond and then stops. My last sync shows as "5 days ago" currently.
1) I have tried the restart suggestion many times, that doesn't fix it.
2) I have also re-setup the Dropbox synch from iOS, which works for a while then stops again.
3) Have also tried the "Add a secure note to Mac" as above, but that never appears on iOS (because the iOS sync does not even appear to be kicking off).

@pats300zx and @javab0y , could you please send a diagnostic report in so we can take a look at what's going on under the hood? I want to make sure this is the same issue that we're seeing elsewhere. Please post back here once you send it in so we know to look for it.

I've been having dropbox sync issues with 1Password since iOS 8 came out. I'm having similar problems with an iOS app called YNAB which also uses dropbox to sync data between devices. My suspicion is this is actually a dropbox issue.

Hi Graeme,
Have you sent us a diagnostic report yet?

I think the problem might be related to the background app refresh issue. I disabled background app refresh on my iPhone, and it now syncs correctly when I start the app (knock on wood). I did not disable background app refresh on my iPad, and that device is still having the sync problems.

Interesting. Thanks for the update. Please let us know if that resolves the issue on the iPad as well.

@MrRooni
I turned off Background Refresh on my iPhone yesterday and so far today it is working fine. Did you still want the diagnostic logs if it is working?I have not turned off Background Refresh on my iPad so I thought I would try to send a Dianostic Log from there, as that may be more useful... Unfortunately as soon as I click "Email Diagnostics", the 1Password app crashes. I have sent a Crash Report for that incident instead, and cannot send you the Diagnostic Log that you are after.
Let me know what you would like me to do.
