Mouse changes the focus when 1Password mini pops up [Known issue, working on a fix]

On Yosemite 1password mini pops up in the middle of the screen in a similar location as Spotlight.

If`my mouse happens to be anywhere over where the window pops up, the item under the mouse is automatically selected. It's very confusing because normally the selected item is at the top and it's very predictable that it's going to be for a particular website. This is especially confusing when you popup the window using the keyboard shortcut and you are nowhere near the mouse.

Is it possible to leave the selected item at the top like normal and only move it if and when the mouse moves?

    Hi @canoeberry,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! I've run into this one myself, and it's a little bit annoying, to say the least. Our developers are currently looking into the best way to solve this - I'll let them know that you're keen to see a fix for this soon.

    Hi @jmoses,

As a matter of fact, I do have an update on this. We have this issue marked as resolved in our internal tracker (as of version 5.1, in fact.) From the 1Password 5.1 release notes:

    Fixed annoying problem where a menu would be immediately selected if the mini was activated underneath the mouse pointer. {OPM-2169}

If you're still seeing this issue, please let me know what version of 1Password you're using (you can find these details in the 1Password > About 1Password menu) and tell me a bit more detail about what you are seeing precisely.

Sure, I'm still seeing this in

    1Password 5
    Version 5.3.1 (531001)
    Agile Web Store

    in this scenario:

    1. Ensure mini is locked
    2. Visit site that has stored credentials
    3. Activitate 1password mini via browser button (chrome)
    4. move mouse down to where a menu item is expected to be (the horizontal UI line is a good target for this)
    5. Enter passphrase and hit enter
    6. Expected: mini window to decrypt, leaving top item selected
    7. Actual: mini window decrypts with top item selected, item under mouse becomes selected immediately after animation complete

    Hi @jmoses,

Thanks for your detailed steps! I was able to reproduce this, and I've opened a new bug report to let our developers know about it. The previous bug report (which was resolved) was for almost exactly the same issue, except it happened when using the ⌥⌘\ or ⌘\ keyboard shortcut to open 1Password mini, instead of clicking on it with the mouse. It works correctly now when using the keyboard shortcuts, but still happens when using the mouse.

Thank you for bringing that to our attention! I don't have a timeframe for a fix, but in the meantime, a workaround would be to use the keyboard shortcuts to open mini.

If you need anything else, please let us know! :)
