I have 1Password 5 for Mac and have this notice: Trial expired. Click here to buy.
I purchased 1Password 5 for Mac last spring and today I got this notice when accessing: "Trial expired. Click here to buy."
AgileBits resent me my license information and I confirmed I have version 5.
Please help me figure out how to get that notice to go away. I'm afraid it thinks its right and will wipe out my passwords if I don't buy another one.

Hi @SusieBee,
Thanks for taking the time to write to us :+1:
Please make sure that you double-click on your license file and if you still see "Trial expired. Click here to buy.", restart 1Password mini (Help > Troubleshooting > Restart 1Password mini) and reboot your Mac as an extra precaution.
I'm afraid it thinks its right and will wipe out my passwords if I don't buy another one.
Please don't worry, we never wipe out your data
Hope that this helps
Cheers!

Rad,
I cannot find how to "double click on my license file." I also don't know how to restart password mini or even what this is- is it the 1Password that's on my computer? my iPhone?
I wish this would just update itself without me having to interact with it because I've already spent at least 1.5 hrs trying to fix this. I am obviously not tech savvy.
Also, could this have something to do with why my 1Password on my iPhone does not sync with my computer?

Hi @SusieBee
The way 1Password works is anybody can download it and make use of the trial period. When you purchase a licence you need to inform this copy of 1Password that it is now fully licensed. In 1Password 4 & 5 we do this via a licence file and a link to download your licence file will be in the email we sent you. So receiving the email is just the first stage. Now if you had it sent to a gmail address one of the links will have been hidden due to some odd gmail quirk. Your email should have contained the following though:
Register: With 1Password downloaded, click here to automatically add your license
Notes: No link? Link not working? View the complete installation steps.
The register link is being obliterated if viewed from within gmail, I don't know why but the second link always seems to be present.
Now simply downloading the licence file by following the link should be all you need to do, if not then once the file has downloaded, probably to your Download folder you should just need to double click on it for 1Password to react.
In the frustrating situation where that isn't either does this page on Adding a license to 1Password help at all?
Let us know how you get along.

It seems this is a reoccurring issue/big with 1Password for Mac. I have it on both mac and Windows and this never happens with the Windows version. To be honest, I am finding this to be very annoying because even the steps to resolve are confusing. When I click on add the license (which I should not have to repeatedly do...I am guessing every time there is an update) it is looking for a file and I don't see where I can simply add the license number I have on in an email. Can you please resolve this annoying reoccurring problem?
Thanks

What license (and 1PW version) do you have?
If you just have a license number, this will be for 1PW3. 1PW4 (and 1PW5) use a license FILE (the same file for 4 and 5), which should have been sent to you in an email, or can be resent from here.
Once you have applied the license file, there should not be any further requests, even when you update.

Hi @AJ Hull,
Thanks for your feedback on our registration process.
We were definitely noticing it was a problem, so I'm happy to report that we have improved the 1Password 5 for Mac licensing process in recent months, so now when you receive the license email it contains a link that says "Click here to apply your 1Password license." When you click that link (with 1Password running and unlocked), it will open a page in your default browser which automatically downloads and applies your license to 1Password, takes it out of trial mode to unlock the full-featured app, and stores the license file within 1Password in the Software Licenses category for future reference. I've resent your licenses to you so you can see what I mean.

I hope this improvement is in line with what you were hoping for! Let us know what you think. :)
