1Password for Windows does not connect to the Internet

My Windows 7 PC is connected to the Internet via my home wireless LAN. When I click "Check for new version..." an error message appears that the application is having trouble connecting to the Internet. Which Windows settings do I need to check?

Are you behind a Proxy server? If yes, then you might need to configure it here: File > Preferences (Ctrl+P) > Network
