Thanks for your reply but it does not answer my question. My Mac tells me I have a family license for 1Password 5. My wife has been using it on her Macbook since i bought the license. Suddenly today it tells her her trial has expired, she did not have a trial but was using the family license I paid for.

If you have a family licence you bought from the AgileBits Store. Have you tried sending her your licence file so she can add it on her machine? If you don't have your licence file you can have it re-sent to you by using the link on this page.

(Note that AgileBits no longer do family licences. Instead the licence now allows you to install 1P on the machines of up to six family members living in the same household. I don't mean that you didn't buy a family licence—just don't worry if you don't see any current references to it!)

    Hi @chmuso‌

Did Stephen_C manage to get you sorted out? It does sound like all you needed to do is apply the same licence file to your wife's MacBook. If you're still having troubles please do let us know.

Basically, when you download 1Password from our web site it is in trial mode until you apply a licence. So you can have purchased and still see this "Trial Expired" message if for any reason the licence file wasn't applied.

Hopefully though everything is running smoothly.

I've been using 1password for a long time but today a message said, "Trial period over" and I found my license key but I don't see how to add. When I go to 1password, add license, it pulls down my "attach file" menu. I don't see a way around this. Does a license key expire? Am I supposed to repurchase?

It appears to be working today but the notice (in red) that my trial period has ended is still there. I would like to fix this glitch and be sure it's running smoothly. I have many passwords for different clients and need it to run properly.

How do I send my license file to the laptop?

@rsking - one good way would be to attach it to an email message and send to the second Mac. Or copy it to a portable medium like a flash drive and move it manually.

Hi @maureenvs. I merged your discussion with this one, since they're related. The trial expired message is a bug which we've recently fixed. It can be remedied by simply re-entering your license.

The reason you're prompted with an 'attach file' menu is because the licenses for 1Password 4 and 5 are in file form (rather than just a number). Please follow these steps to locate your license file:

    1. Open your Finder
    2. Click 'All My Files'
    3. Type onepassword-license in the search bar
    4. Under the search bar, choose to search 'This Mac'
    5. If the license is on your computer, it will show up from this search with a gold keyhole icon. Point to that when you go to add your license.

If you're unable to locate your license, email us at support@agilebits.com with a link to this discussion. Then leave a note here so we can locate it quickly. :)

    I hope this helps!
