Error message appearing in Console

I happened to open Console recently, and found the following message repeating every 10 seconds continuously:-

18/12/14 08:18:47.334 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper[429]) Could not find and/or execute program specified by service: 149: Could not find a bundle of the given identifier through LaunchServices: 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper
18/12/14 08:18:47.334 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper) Service only ran for 0 seconds. Pushing respawn out by 10 seconds.

However I do not have 1Password4 - I used to but have upgraded to 1Password5. Is this a problem left over from the upgrade? Any idea how I can get rid of it?

  • Hi @evetsariom‌

Sorry to hear about the recurring messages in your console log. As someone who likes to keep their system tidy and running efficiently, I can understand the frustration a message like this can be.

I did some research, and it seems (at your own risk) you should be able to stop these messages by running the following command in Terminal:

    launchctl remove 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper

If you decide to try it, please be very careful with what you type in Terminal, as what seems like a small typo could cause permanent system software damage. Please let us know how it turns out.

    Hi @bwoodruff‌

Thanks for your suggestion. I did as you suggest and..... calm has returned to Console. No more messages.

Thanks very much for your help.

  • On behalf of Ben, you're welcome. I'm glad to hear that fixed it. :)

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always happy to help!

I've run the above Terminal command but I still see lots of errors relating to onepassword4 helper. Are there more ideas on how to fix these?

Running 1password 5 purchased from the App Store.

    Thanks

Hi @Selch, did you read post #2? That should equally apply to you given it's the exact same console error.

Have the same problem. The launchcntl command indeed fixes the problem, but after a restart the messages pop up again. How can this be stopped once and for all?

    Hi @mheimann,

I can't say what the chances of success are but the following might be worth a shot.

    1. Launch 1Password and enter 1Password's preferences.
    2. In the General tab you should see an option titled Always keep 1Password mini running, uncheck that checkbox and close the preference window.
    3. Quit 1Password and you should receive the following confirmation window, Enable 1Password mini?, click the Do not enable button.
    4. Reboot your Mac.
    5. Launch 1Password and re-enable the option Always keep 1Password mini running in the General tab.

If you now reboot your Mac again does it makes any difference?

Tried this sequence - did not help. The messages in the console pop up again every 10 seconds.

    Hi @mheimann,

I'm sorry to hear that didn't work. To help us figure out what's going on and how to solve it, I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac: https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/mac.html

Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and ensure that it is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!
