Login is not filled in on PayPal Site

Trying to use the 'Fill Login on current web page' action in 1Password on the PayPal site and it isn't working. I've tried manually entering the email/password combo and updating my current login item, but that doesn't seem to correct the problem.

The usual solution for problems like this is to re-create and save the login manually. The linked page includes the following:

Saving a new Login manually can be helpful for fixing Logins that are problematic or that were once working but have since stopped. It allows 1Password to refresh everything it “knows” about the page and start from a clean slate.

That's why I think it might help in this case. You do say:

I've tried manually entering the email/password combo and updating my current login item

but I'm not clear if you've actually followed the procedure on the linked page. I apologise if in fact you've already tried that and it still doesn't work. In that case please post again and tell us your 1P and OS X version numbers, the browser you are using and the version number of the 1P extension in the browser.

  • Hi @soob,

Sorry to hear it's not working for you. Could you specify exactly what isn't working? Is anything getting filled? Is it that it fills but doesn't submit?

    Thanks

Sorry for the late reply, have been blissfully away from most computer type objects over the holiday.

Stephen, I can deduce from my login item that I did not create a new login item, I only updated the one I had.

Rick, what it was doing was just filling in the username (but I'm not even sure about that as it seems to be pre-populated even if I don't use 1Password to open the page), never the password.

Now, I just tried creating a new login item and tried it out but now it only fills in the password! I don't know, maybe because I didn't actually type my email address (it was already pre-populated)?

I tried the old login item (the one I updated) and it worked! Not sure why I didn't see it working two weeks ago. Wait, just closed the tab and tried again and now it isn't working.

I deleted the new (password only) login item and typed all the data in by hand and saved a new login item and that one appears to be working.

Now if only you could merge login items or somehow easily copy over web form data, password history and other fields that have been entered in the non-working login item.

    Thanks, Jim

    Hi Jim ( @soob ),

I'm sorry that your PayPal Login has been misbehaving for you, but I'm so glad to hear that you were able get things sorted out again. Manually saving a new Login tends to fix all sorts of these filling errors, as it allows 1Password to re-learn the fields that it needs to fill.

I'll be sure to let our developers know you're interested in a way to merge Login items.

Thanks for the feedback, and all the best in the new year!

I'm having this same problem - current login no longer works. It does not fill in anything at the home screen but once it fails and paypal takes you to a login specific page, it works. Does this mean we need two different logins for paypal - each page-specific?. Running the latest beta 1Pass on Mavericks.

    Hi @Sharkez,

Did you use the steps posted above to Save a New Login Manually?

If your PayPal Login can be filled on multiple pages, you can include each URL within your existing entry. This will ensure that 1Password will show your PayPal Login for all of the sites it can be filled on.
