Lost Password

I'm guessing you're using 1P5. In that case follow the steps (carefully!) in this knowledge base article to start over.
Edit: note that you will lose all your 1P data.

OK, so we still have a problem. When I re-opened the program after the following the directions for deleting the old system, a welcome screen came up with a descrition of all the features. Then when I clicked the "Awesome, Lets Get Started" button at the bottom, it went back to the login looking for my old master password. Square 1 :-(0 -
Oh, I'm sorry it didn't fully resolve the problem. I can think of only two things to check:
- Make sure you have only one copy of 1Password on your hard disk—or any disk that is permanently attached to the machine. Yosemite can get itself into an unhappy muddle if it finds more than one copy of 1P anywhere (including in places like the trash, your downloads folder or an attached backup disk).
- If that doesn't apply I can only suggest that you check again that you followed exactly the procedure to which I linked in my previous post. It's particularly important to close 1P using ⌃⌘Q and not simply ⌘Q.
Sorry not to have more ideas at present but if you still have problems do please post again and someone will be along to help further.

Hi @BDietel,
Please try the steps in the starting over guide one more time.
After you do that, you may also need to delete old data from iCloud (if you synced to iCloud):
- Open System Preferences.
- Click iCloud.
- Click Manage... next to the storage meter.
- Click 1Password (or onepassword) in the sidebar on the left, then Delete Documents & Data to remove the data from iCloud.
If you synced to Dropbox, please delete your old 1Password.agilekeychain file from your Dropbox folder as well.
Please let us know if that helps.

Still having trouble. In the starting over guide, I cannot find this in my Finder - Locate the file named com.agilebits.onepassword4.plist and drag it onto the Desktop.

Hi @peggyintx,
Assuming that file exists, it's contained in your
~/Library/Preferences/
folder. Now by default that folder is hidden as a safety measure. I would recommend trying the following- Open a Finder window and use the keyboard shortcut
⇧⌘G
to open a Go to the Folder window. - Paste in the following
~/Library/Preferences/com.agilebits.onepassword4.plist
and click the Go button. - If the file exists Finder will highlight the file, ready for you to do whatever you need to. If it doesn't exist the Go to the Folder will, slightly inaccurately, state that "The folder can't be found".
Does that help? Let us know how you get along
