I downloaded 1 Password 5 and paid for it for my iMac on the desk but now I need to get (download?) the app on to my iPad and my iPhone so everything is in sync (I assume through the iCloud??) , but I cannot find anywhere is the help or the application on my desktop to do that. How do I download that?

You download the iOS Version from the iTunes App Store to your iPad. You'll be able to sync your Mac and iPad via iCloud if you bought the desktop version from Aplle through the Mac App Store. If you purchased directly from AgileBits, you'll need to use Dropbox instead.

I removed your email address from your post, since this is a public forum and I doubt you want the spam that likely will find you if its left there. I'll send it to @JasperP as a private message, in case email is your best solution.
The best way to get this onto your iPad is from the iPad itself. There is an application on it called App Store. Open that and search for 1Password. Then tap Get to download it to your iPad. You'll have to provide your Apple ID and password before it will download. This is the same process you'd use to download any iPad application to your tablet. The iPad instructions should cover this, if it's not familiar to you.

Hi Trudy,
Like hawkmoth mentioned, you will need to download 1Password for iOS from the App Store for your iPad.
Here is a direct link to 1Password on the App Store: https://j.mp/1PasFO
Please let us know how it goes. :)
And thanks @hawkmoth for messaging me the email address!

I did not buy it from the App store, I bought it from agile bits and after apple was on the phone with me and even took over my machine we could not get it to work everywhere. So I give up. and want my money back. How do I do that?

You could not possibly have purchased the iOS application from AgileBits. That version is only sold by Apple in the App Store. You could have done so for the Mac version though, which I assume is what your post refers to when the Apple representative took over your machine.
It strikes me that this is your central issue. In order to sync between your Mac and your iPad, you must get two different pieces of software separately. You have the Mac piece, which you have purchased from AgileBits. You still need to download the iOS version separately to your iPad. You can do that for free for the basic version, which may well be all you ever need. There isn't anything on your desktop that would do that for your iPad, unless you are referring to the iTunes application, which can connect you to the App Store for iOS applications. You would then need to synchronize your Mac to the iPad to transfer the iOS application to it. This is no different from any other iPad application.
I'm sure you will be able to get a refund for your Mac purchase from AgileBits, if that's where you bought your license and if the transaction was within the last 30 days. Sorry this isn't working out for you.

One more time, you absolutely did not buy the iOS application from AgileBits. It's only ever been available by Apple from the App Store, just like every other iOS application.
Someone who works at AgileBits will come along soon and give you instructions for asking for a refund for the Mac application.

Good morning, Thanks, sorry I must have copied the same comment in here twice. With Mac on the phone they got me to hook my iPad to my iMac desktop and I was able to download to the iPad, but now when I click on the icon for 1 password it says no 1 password data was found on the iCloud ensure iCloud is enabled within 1 password on your other device . Now I do not see iCloud anywhere on my 27 inch desktop, I recall Apple asking me to use something called iCloud drive, which I see at the top of my favorites but when I click on that all it has in it is pages. I don't think the Apple person knew what they were doing, they had to get their supervisor back becuase they got me locked out of my self. Any how, I went to preferences on my Apple at the top left on the desktop and I have iCloud open and see lots of apps such as iCloud drive, photos etc. If I click on iCloud drive nothing under there has anything listed such as 1Password, although I do have 1Password that I put at the top of my tray at the left and first up on the far right side of the main grey bar at the top of the desktop. I might have to work with a client today; which we could work more in sync but that is probably not possible. I will hold off in case your folks know better how to set this up that the apple person did. (Maybe I did not realize I purchased from the apple store, I had written down agile bits as the source for purchasing)

Hi @Trudy Thomson
I'm glad to hear after what sounds like a bit of a fight that you've managed to load 1Password 5 for iOS onto your iPad.
I have found a licence for you which means you've purchased 1Password 5 for Mac from us. Now this means you won't be able to use iCloud to sync the two because CloudKit, the iCloud framework we use for syncing, is limited to applications purchased through Apple's stores, both the iTunes store for iOS apps and Apple's Mac App Store (MAS) for Mac applications.
So there are two options.
- If you don't have any strong opinion on the matter you can use Dropbox to synchronise your vault. Dropbox is like iCloud in some respects but it is a cross-platform service. There is also Wi-Fi Sync although this means the devices have to be visible to each other on the same network i.e. at home for syncing to occur.
- Given when you purchased 1Password 5 from us we could offer you a refund, freeing you up to purchase 1Password 5 for Mac via Apple's Mac App Store (MAS). The MAS version has not only Dropbox and Wi-Fi Sync but also iCloud Sync support as it's distributed from one of Apple's stores.
Ideally we don't want any differences between the Agile Web Store and MAS version but we have to work within Apple's restrictions.
Once you decide which route you would like to go down we can start pointing you towards all the relevant guides. You can read them over and if you have any questions you're free to do so too. Does that sound like an acceptable plan?

Glad you figured out so much, cause I carefully read everything and was befuddled (if that is a word). Any how, I use drop box but up online for work with web clients and don't really want to mix that up with my own activity on my desktop. If I asked for a refund I assume I would have to delete the 1Password from the devices I added it to, buy it from the MAC store, then download everywhere again and set up! Is that correct? I already have a half days work adding passwords to the 1Password and I do like it so far. Please respond about what I should do to proceed, and I might try downloading DROPBOX to my desktop and try to hook into that approach. Do you know if I can still use my iCloud and browser to auto fill websites. I have three rolodexes of passwords on my desk which is going to create some serious work for me. Let me know my options, and thanks for such a great explanation!

Hi @Trudy Thomson
Thanks so much for your patience as we work to get this all sorted out!
If I asked for a refund I assume I would have to delete the 1Password from the devices I added it to, buy it from the MAC store, then download everywhere again and set up!
We have a guide to help if you decide to switch from the webstore version of 1Password to the Mac App Store version: Migrate to the Mac App Store version. You will not have to delete 1Password from your iOS devices, and the set-up process should be simple, with no need to re-enter a half-day's worth of passwords!
and I might try downloading DROPBOX to my desktop and try to hook into that approach.
If you're willing to give Dropbox sync a try, we've got a guide to walk you through the process of setting it up as well:
Do you know if I can still use my iCloud and browser to auto fill websites.
If your passwords are currently stored in your iCloud keychain, you can continue to use Safari's auto-fill feature. 1Password does have a browser extension as well that can fill your details for you. Generally, what I would recommend here is to install the browser extensions form our extension download page. Whenever you enter a username and password that is not already saved in 1Password, 1Password will pop up and offer to save those details for you. This allows you to quickly and easily build your database in 1Password.
To get an overview of 1Password and all it can do for you, check out our User Guides and Knowledgebase. Of course, if you have more questions for us, we're here to help!

I will now see if I set up drop sync properly on my MAC and also then try to set up dropbox sync for my iPad and iPhone. If that fails then I will ask you guys for a refund and go the other route using MAC store and iCloud. Will little bobby see this, it is getting confusing to me and he said to work with you mail through the forum, can you alert him that I said this to you???THX

Do I need to download drop box to my phone and my iPad. I can find it on my iPad but don't see it on the phone. How do I get the 1password to my phone? Without phone call help this is kind of ragged communication. But I love the 1password how it works just want to get it going!

I just tried unlocking 1Password on my iPad by clicking the icon, typing in my secret code, and I see Categories and All Items but nothing to click for settings. The globe like icon does nothing, so there is no way to open settings to at least sync Wi-Fi with the secret code provided on my iMAC desktop!!!

Hi @Trudy Thomson
Okay, in post #16 it sounds like you are in the Settings app for your iOS device, the icon looks very much like the System Preferences icon on your Mac. So we've caused you a little confusion as to setup Dropbox syncing you will want the Settings inside 1Password which I think you've begun to get from post #18.
Now on an iPhone your settings in 1Password is a little cog icon with the words Settings under it and it's the icon second from the right in the bar at the bottom. Just to cause you to curse us a little it isn't in the same position on an iPad (sorry). The icon is still a outline drawing of a cog but on an iPad it is in the bottom left hand corner and doesn't say Settings under it (probably not very helpful), separated from the other icons in the grey bar running down the left hand side of the screen.
That will hopefully get you into the Settings for 1Password where you should have a Syncing option with a little orange icon.
Now you mentioned if you needed to download Dropbox to your iPhone. You don't need to download the Dropbox app but I find it maybe a little easier if you have it. If you were to download the Dropbox app and log into your Dropbox account it won't download everything from your Dropbox account to the iOS device as that would be wasteful of the limited space typically found on the mobile devices. What it will mean though is when you go to set up Dropbox inside of 1Password it will, in an automated fashion, pass you to the Dropbox app so you can confirm you don't mind 1Password accessing your Dropbox account. The Dropbox app will return you to the 1Password app if memory serves me and 1Password will search for .agilekeychains. Once you've selected one it will sync and you should be done.
Let us know how you get along and if any part of that needs embellished on please let me know.

So let's see back per my message #16 I finally was able to enter master password for 1password, it unlocked and now all I see is an address or search box and to the right icons for key plus and something that looks like a chart. I hit key and that showed me my credit card numbers. WTF, I might have to start swearing!!! HELEPEPEPEPPE

Hi @Trudy Thomson
Sorry for the delay there, I needed help grabbing a couple of screenshots that I think will help (as I don't own an iPad at the moment).
Is this what you're seeing?
It sounds like it is and your frustration is you're actually in the 1Browser that is part of 1Password. You may come to like 1Browser but for the moment you probably want to say some not very complimentary things. The red arrow is pointing to the button that will return you to the normal 1Password page which I'm also including below.
On this one I've used the red arrow to show you where the settings button is on the iPad. From here it will hopefully become more intuitive. If not we're here!

I see nothing like this! Holy Shit! Will only be able to proceed if I can use my foul mouth! And my phone is in worse shape not matching any help advice. Should I try to use my phone to take pics of the screens on the iPad, or maybe there is someone there that has an iPad! They are wonderful!

Hi @Trudy Thomson
If you press down both the power button and the home button at the same time it can take a screenshot of what is on your screen. As long as it isn't showing any sensitive information you can post the image here. If you're reluctant to do that you can send a message to myself with the photo if you prefer.
If you're still on the screen showing your credit cards then I've simply misunderstood which screen you were still on. Pressing cancel which should be in the top left hand corner of the screen should return you to the 1Browser window which was the first screenshot.

Hmmm...let me try taking some pictures with screen shots on the iPad but can I email them to you from my iPad? What is your email?

Hi @Trudy Thomson
I've responded to your email. It's probably best for consistency to try and keep the communication in one place for fear we all end up confused. I believe the current state is you're going to email a screenshot so I know where we stand.

So just got the new email about using the ticket here wherever that might be, now I have to go eat dinner, so will check back in like 20 minutes!!! THX
