How to remove Primary Vault from 1Password 5

I wanted to rename the Primary vault in 1Password5 so I had it duplicated and am now using the new one. I want to remove the original Primary vault. How can I do that? The reason is that both me and my wife are syncing to the same dropbox folder and if we both have a 'Primary' vault things will get confusing.

    Hi @tanz16,

Unfortunately it is not possible to rename, or delete the primary vault at this time. If you're sharing a Dropbox account with your wife, I recommend that you create sub-folders for your 1Password data: 1Password, his and 1Password, hers for example.

I have 1Password at work and at home. At work, Primary is my work stuff and "family" is home stuff. At home, "primary" is family stuff and "work" is work stuff. Having to remember which "primary" is which gets very tedious. I've duplicated vaults so there is now a "Family" and "Work" vault in addition to the two primary vaults but since those are always the defaults passwords still get saved to them. The ability to delete (or better yet, rename) the primary vault is the only way I see to fix this issue.

    Hi @janmt,

Thanks so much for the feedback here! I do want to point out a feature that should make your life a bit simpler.

Vault switching is nice and simple with ⌘# ( Command-'vault number' ) keyboard shortcuts. This shortcut works in the main app, mini, the browser extensions, and will let you save an item directly into a secondary vault.

I know it's not quite what you wanted to hear, but I will certainly pass along your use case to our development team. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns about 1Password! :)

Thanks Megan. That is how I switch vaults, but having Primary be default is a kink. It works, it is just not ideal. I enjoy 1Password and look forward to future improvements. :)

    Hi @janmt ,

It's great to hear that you already know about this tip! :) As I've mentioned, I'm more than happy to share your thoughts with our team. Of course I can't promise anything, but we've from other users who would like a bit more flexibility where vaults are concerned, and we'll take all these thoughts into consideration as we work to improve multiple vaults and make them better, stronger, faster for everyone!
