Chrome extension - "duplicate" passwords

Hi all,

Small "bug" in the current 1Password for Windows (4.1.0.530), with Chrome extension 4.2.5.90.

  1. Boot Windows (or alternatively: lock the vault in 1P via File > Lock)
  2. Launch Chrome
  3. Go to a website
  4. Log in from the autofilled (through Chrome's keychain) password

Result

  • 1Password asks for the master password
  • Then asks to save the password Chrome autofilled as a new password, even though it's already in my vault.

Works every time. It happens only if I log in with the vault locked.

Doesn't seem to happen in the Mac version.

Seb

1Password cannot reliably verify whether a Login item already exists when it is locked. Please have 1Password log into your web sites (in other words: let 1Password do the filling) and you should be fine. Alternatively, you can turn OFF this setting: File > Preferences (Ctrl+P) > Auto-Save > "Disable Auto-Save when Vault is Locked"

Aaah, that option should solve my problem. Thanks!

@sebmercier‌, this is one of the reasons we recommend disabling your browser's built-in password-save and password-fill functionality, as explained in the Setting up browsers article in the 1Password 4 for Windows user's guide.
