Sync between OSX and Windows

I use 1Password a lot on OSX and iOS. Currently I use the mobile app to look up passwords when I'm on Windows. If I use the the Windows version of 1Password, how can I sync my passwords? Today I use iCloud for syncing. Does this work in the Windows version as well?

I don't really use Dropbox for anything, so I hope that I can sync without Dropbox.

No, Apple won't support iCloud properly on Windows. Dropbox is your only sensible option if you little a hassle free life.

If you really want to avoid Dropbox then you could use Wi-fi sync directly between your iPhone and Windows. This isn't automatic and needs to be setup each time you want to sync so it's a bit more work than Dropbox which "just does it".

OK. I have a Mac Air, an iPhone, and a Windows desktop. I am not syncing between the three. I am not strong on 21st Century tech. Can you walk me through the steps necessary to sync all three? How do I know you have replied? Can you send this through regular email? john.dockerty@gmail.com.

The order in which you do things is important, John.

Because you already have 1Password data on your Mac and iPhone, and assuming the data in 1Password for Mac is complete, I'd do it this way:

1. Install Dropbox on your Mac.
2. Set up Dropbox sync in 1Password for Mac.
3. Set up Dropbox sync in 1Password for iOS.
4. Confirm that all your items are synced correctly.
5. Launch 1Password for Windows.
6. Choose File > Open 1Password Vault, and select the .agilekeychain folder that corresponds to the vault you're syncing between your Mac and iPhone.
