Confusion about sharing

Hi-
About to purchase this product, and have read the web site, FAQs, blogs, forums, but still have this question: How can I share the license and data/vaults with my spouse?
Background- my wife and I each have our own Mac laptop, ipad, iphone and share a Mac desktop. She has her own apps on her devices using her Apple ID, and I have my own using my Apple ID.
We would like to:
a) use the minimum number of licenses needed (e.g. 1 for computers, 1 for iOS).
b) sync some of our vaults back and forth with each other, as we log on to many of the same sites and both need the same passwords
So why am I confused about?

  • I read that turning on Family Sharing in iCloud does not allow sharing a single iOS 1P app license (we intended to upgrade to the pro version)- is that true?
...so would we need to buy iOS versions for each of us?
...but does the it work on the computers if we have different Apple ID's? Are the ipads using the iOS version or computer one?

  • Apparently sharing single license only works if the family all share the same Apple ID. However wife and I use our own Apple ID. Does that mean we each need a license?
Can one of the kind people here let me know exactly how to purchase/set up this up?
We could use the dropbox method instead of iCloud for sharing a vault, but there is still my confusion about using the same license for both of us as we have separate Apple ID's.
    Thanks much to all.

You would need to purchase a single Mac license as that allows up to 6 users (not machines) in the same household to use the same license.

In iOS you both can can share the free version of the app.

What happens is Apple does not allow sharing of In App Purchases, so if you wanted multiple vaults on your iOS devices. You each would need to purchase the pro version under each of your respective ID's. In other words once you download it on your device tap the option to purchase the pro features. You will be prompted to enter you password to authorize the purchase. This purchase is forever tied to your individual Apple ID. Later on if you need to restore that In App Purchase, you just supply your password.

She would repeat the purchase on her device so she has the pro features. Again that purchase is tied to her ID for later use.

Only one purchase of the Pro features is required for each user / Apple ID. That purchase can be used on multiple iPads and iPhones which are signed in and using that Apple ID.

So to recap its like this

    1. You and Wife > Mac = 1 license will cover your Macs (His and Hers) estimate (web store version as of today) * $49.99

    2. You and Wife > Free iOS app = Gives basic access to 1Password

    3. You > Need an In App Purchase (iOS) = Access to Pro features - useable on all your iDevices (iPad/iPhone) * $10 current price

    4. Wife > Needs an In App Purchase (iOS) = Access to Pro features - useable on all her iDevices (iPad/iPhone) * $10 current price

      • So your Total purchase would be * 69.99 for multiple Macs (under the same household), and multiple iOS devices used by you and your wife. (As of todays pricing)

    Notes :

    1. If you want to share multiple vaults Dropbox is the best syncing method, or possibly wifi.
    2. iCloud syncing is only available in the Mac App Store version of the app. * If you ever wish to use iCloud syncing then its recommended you purchase from that store.
    3. iCloud syncing is only for single vaults.
