Unsigned Installer

I have just downloaded the latest 1password installer for Windows and it tells me that the installer is unsigned! (see attachment)
Is this correct? I am running Windows 7 professional.

@rusql: Yike! That is very odd. Maybe your root store is out of date? I just downloaded and ran the installer myself on my own Windows 7 Ultimate machine and got the following result:

I don't show anything pending for Windows Update on my machine. Double-check yours, as I know there have been root store updates. I hope this helps! :)

  • HI @rusql,

Can you explain where you downloaded the file from? The only legit place you should download 1Password from is from our website here: http://agilebits.com/downloads

If you downloaded elsewhere, than that might explain it. Please delete that file and download a new copy from here: http://agilebits.com/downloads

See if that'll show you the publisher now.

Hi @MikeT, yes I downloaded it from the agilebits website in the link you described above.

Hi @brenty , I don't show any Windows updates on my machine (except for an optional SQL Server service pack). I can send you the downloaded file if you would like to examine it?

    Thanks,
    Russell.

    Hi @rusql,

That address is valid, it's from our content delivery network, so that we can serve the downloads quickly to you.

What you can do is right-click on the installer, select Properties and in the Digital Signature tab, select the signature and view its details. It should verify it is signed properly.

If yes, you can safely go ahead and approve the installer from our download site.

I'm not able to reproduce the error on my Windows 7 machine either. One thing you can do is try a different browser and let it run the installer after it downloads. It might work.

Thanks @MikeT, I have just confirmed that it is signed as you described.

  • Thanks for letting us know about this!
If there's anything else we can help you with… shoot :)
