Could you please advice me on the best size and image type to use for the logos.
Also, some logos appear automatically, is there a way in which you can request logos to be added to this?

If you edit your Login, there's an Icon option to download an icon automatically as shown in this screenshot:

There's an option to try to download all icons available for your Logins. You can find this in the main 1Password application, via the File Menu > Download Icons...
