Use Fingerprint Reader in Windows

Hi!

My laptop figures a fingerprint reader and Windows manages it natively as a biometric peripheral through a validity sensor (WBF) driver.

It is used to open a Windows session.

Could 1Password use the fingerprint sensor for identification?

This would be very nice.

    Hi @Rei Vilo,

Just to summarize what went on in that thread, there's basically not a secure centralized place on Windows we can use with our application to store your master password and/or encryption key in order to associate with your fingerprint. We do not want to store your master password or the encryption key anywhere on your computer nor your system memory in clear view, that's why we need to get rid of it as soon as we're done with it.

On the iOS devices, we can use the iOS's secure keychain to store the data. So, when you unlock with Touch ID, we gain access to your keychain to grab the master password and use it to unlock the app.
