Documents inside 1Password
Trying very hard to get myself fully conversant with 1Password. I have sorted out all my Web Pages "Logins" via 1Password and so far, so good. Next project is to put certain documents which are passworded on my iMac behind the safety of 1Password. Cannot see how to achieve this. Help would be appreciated

You can attach documents to individual records in 1Password. The option to do that appears towards the bottom of the record when you are in the edit mode for such a record.
Here is a screen capture from the Demo vault showing where this is:
1Password isn't a very good solution for storing lots of individual files, though. I have copies of my passport's photo page and my driver license, but that's about all. If you want a secure document store, you may want to look at Knox, another AgileBits offering. It's designed for that.

Or, for simple things, there is the Secure Notes section of 1PW.

Hi @Jacko,
As @hawkmoth pointed out, you can add attachments to items.
There's a limitation that you should be aware of, since you specifically mentioned that these files are currently password-protected. This leads me to believe that you edit these files from time to time. Once you've imported them into 1Password, the file itself will no longer really be editable. You can open it, make a copy, and attach the new copy as another attachment, to replace the previous one... but there's no easy "open, edit, save, done" workflow at the moment.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Rick, yes I do want to be able to get into my documents to edit them. They are currently password protected on my iMac. Is 'Knox' from Agilebits the only answer? I know I can password them direct on my iMac, not sure which way to go. Advice would be helpful and appreciated.
In passing, years ago I created a .dmg file which is password protected and in that I can edit my files. Could the .dmg file be used within 1Password please? If so, I could put further documents inside this .dmg file

Hi @Jacko,
1Password really isn't designed to be used that way for file storage. When you open an attachment from an item in 1Password, a decrypted copy of that file is saved to a temp folder on your Mac, so you would actually be looking at a temporary copy of that file, not the original file attachment in 1Password (this would also apply to a .dmg file). That temp copy of the file gets automatically deleted when you quit or lock 1Password. If you wanted to save changes to the file, you would need to save a new copy of it on your Mac. As Rick explained, you could attach that new copy of the file as another attachment in 1Password and delete the previous attachment - but this would be a workaround, and probably not ideal for your purposes.
Instead, you may want to take a look at Knox, which sounds more like what you're looking for as far as secure file storage. We have a separate forum for Knox, so if you have questions about it, you'll be able to get more help there.
I hope that helps, but if you have additional questions, we're here for you! :)
