Multiple users, Safari extension opens in other user's session

My wife and I share a computer (OSX 10.10.3). We both have the latest 1P and Safari extension installed (family license). We have separate 1P vaults.

We often make use of user switching. I would stay logged in (in the background) while my wife uses the computer under her own account. In one of the recent updates we've noticed that she can't launch her 1P extension. It appears that nothing happens when she clicks on the icon. Later when I switch to my account I see the 1P unlock window floating in the middle of my screen. She can open the full 1P application just fine, but then needs to manually copy-and-paste passwords.

Has anyone else seen this problem or can offer a solution?

Thanks!

    Hi @AlfredF,

We've heard reports from other users that fast user switching gets the extension a little bit confused. Our developers are currently looking into this issue. I've shared your experience with them to see if it can help in tracking this down.

I have the same problem. I have Work and Personal user accounts on my MBP. When I switch to my Personal account and use Safari, the 1Password mini often fails to be recognized. In one fix to reset, I go back to the 1Password main and install the browser extension (again). In another case, sometimes I just return to the Work, log out, and then return (re-login) to Personal. Sometimes, I think I can reset 1Password mini by some combination of quitting Safari and starting the 1Password main in some odd order or another.

Glad to hear that this problem is being investigated.

    Hi @DrJJWMac,

I'm sorry you're also having this problem! Our developers are definitely looking into this, although I don't have a timeframe for when to expect a fix. I'll be happy to add your comments to our internal tracker for this bug.

In the meantime, something else you can try is to restart 1Password mini. To do that from the main 1Password app, go to Help > Troubleshooting > Restart 1Password mini. I don't know for sure if that will help, but it's worth a shot.

If you need anything else, please let us know!

"To do that from the main 1Password app, go to ..."

Thank you. I will try this next time the issue arises. As a follow up, I think it happens most when, after I do a user switch, I have left Safari running on my other account.

As a feature request, could you add the reset command to the 1Password menubar extension, perhaps directly above Quit 1Password mini.
