First, install the 1Password Alpha app from the appropriate location:

Once it's installed, please follow these instructions to get started.

Note: The figures and instructions in this article illustrate the first-launch experience on a specific Windows Phone device. Please let us know if your experience is markedly different, and mention what kind of device you're using.

  1. Launch the 1Password for Windows Modern app.

  2. Type in your e-mail address to join the alpha team, and tap Sign up.

  3. Swipe left to read through the "quick tour" pages until you come to the "Where is your vault?" page.

  4. On the "Where is your vault?" page, tap the option for what you want to use as your primary vault.

For a new empty vault, you'll define a master password; for an existing .opvault or .agilekeychain folder, you'll need to know the master password used when that vault folder was created.

  5. For this example, tap Add Dropbox account.

  6. Type in your Dropbox credentials, and tap Log in.

  7. Tap Allow to grant 1Password access to your Dropbox account.

  8. Swipe left to go through the "quick tour" pages until you come to the "Where is your vault?" page again.

  9. Tap Use Dropbox as (your name).

  10. On the next page, tap the .opvault or .agilekeychain folder that syncs the vault you want to use as your primary vault.

  11. On the next page, enter the master password for the vault you selected.

  12. To switch views—Logins, Identities, Credit Cards, and so on—and to see the buttons to sync your data again, add secondary vaults, visit us in the forum, or display the Settings page, tap the Navigation button in the upper left corner of the screen.
