CPU at 100%
I noticed significant battery drain on my Macbook Pro over the past few months. After doing some troubleshooting I have found 1Password to be consuming significant amounts of CPU. Even when 1Password is closed, the mini still consumes 95%. This is unacceptable. I have reinstalled 1Password from scratch but it is still consuming significant amounts of CPU.
Please advise on how to address.
Thanks

Hi @nigeltx,
The last time I saw this it was a mangled .agilekeychain that 1Password was struggling to correct. In instances like that disabling sync, deleting the sync container and having 1Password create a new one often solve the problem. Before we proceed though I'd like to confirm this. So I would like you to create the following Diagnostic Report.
Then attach everything to an email to us: support+ forum@agilebits.com
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Once you've sent the Report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply. I sent the diagnostics report. My ticket ID is #SPJ-41439-315.

Thanks @nigeltx! We received your Diagnostics Report, and I see that someone here just replied to you (if you didn't receive the email, please make sure you check any junk folders/spam filters to see if it was caught there). Hopefully you're all set, but if you need more help with that, we'll keep the conversation going directly via email to avoid complicating things between here and there. Thanks!

Hi,
same problem here.
Both processes (1Password + password mini) over 100%.Any new information about that?
best regards

Hi @howe_30890,
Now Wi-Fi Sync can be used in conjunction with other sync methods although we don't recommend it if you're using Dropbox. Are you also syncing any of your vaults with either Dropbox or Folder Sync? I ask because so far all of these instances have come back to a damaged .agilekeychain. The solution in all cases so far has been to disable Dropbox/Folder Sync and delete the damaged .agilekeychain. When sync is re-enabled 1Password will create a new .agilekeychain and that eliminates the spike in CPU usage.
Now if this isn't the case then it might be worthwhile reviewing a diagnostic report from your machine.
So I would like you to create the following Diagnostic Report.
Then attach everything to an email to us: support+ forum@agilebits.com

Hi littlebobbytables,
Thx for your fast feedback.! Yes, in the moment it works well. I delete the sync option and restart it once again.
Also I restart the sync on all IOS Devices.I sync the Desktop local folder to my synolgy cloud service, so i have 1PWD available for two remote Windows VM's, as well to a MAC Book.
Hope it will be stable again. :)
best regards

Hi @howe_30890,
I'm glad we found the cause there. Should it happen again please do let us know but hopefully smooth sailing going forward

After a recent update (not sure which, but I tend to keep things relatively up-to-date) I've noticed that both my MacBook Air and iMac have been running hotter than usual with fans kicking in far more often than before. I'm also using iStats Menu so could see the CPU running at much higher levels than expected, given what I was doing with either machine (i.e. very little).
When I've looked in more detail, 1Password5 and 1Password5 mini are using lots of background resource when I would expect them to be using very little, and must have in the past as I never noticed this.
Not that much of a problem on my iMac, other than the fan noise, but on my MBA it's draining the battery faster than I would like and where before I could get through the day power-cord free I'm having to plug in now toward the end of the day.
Any ideas?

Does anything in this recent thread help?
Stephen

Yes it has, thanks!
Disabled sync on both machines, recreated and everything appears fine for now.
The similarity with the other thread is that we both appear to be syncing using a folder on a internal cloud-based service (I'm running ownCloud and they had something similar from Synology)

Since it sounds like you were having the same issue discussed in the thread from Stephen's link, I've merged your discussion with it. I'm happy to hear it's working correctly now after disabling & re-enabling sync in 1Password!
Hopefully things continue to work well for you, but please let us know if you run into more problems or have any questions. We're always glad to help! :)

Hi,
I think, if there is a problem to synchronize the folders, it should be recognized by 1Pwd.
When the cpu utilization goes over 100% there's something wrong.
In this case, there should open a warning, because at the time I've the trouble, some of new entries was not sync.Greats from germany

Hi Horst ( @howe_30890 ),
Thanks so much for the feedback! Now, 1Password does keep an eye out for any disconnections with sync, and will notify you if there are any problems. I'm not sure if this extends to cases where the CPU is overtaxed, but I'd be happy to mention to our developers that we should explore this possibility.
I hope that 1Password behaves perfectly for you from now on, but if you have any other questions or concerns, we're here for you! :)
