From where are you trying to download: the Mac App Store or the AgileBits store?

Whet error message do you see or, alternatively, what exactly happens when you try to download?

We really need a little more information in order to help you.

    Stephen

    Hi @lizgreg,

As Stephen_C says, with a bit more information we'll be in a much better position to help. If you can let us know where you've purchased 1Password for Mac (or if you're trying to make use of the trial), what you're doing and where it stops behaving as expected we should be able to advise

I finally was able to upload the program (from your website) onto my Mac. I have unlocked 1Password on my iPad and have synched it to the cloud. Now I am trying to download the info from the cloud onto my Mac but I get a message that it could not find 1Password on the Cloud. I was able to download all the info onto my iPhone so I know that the information is on the cloud somewhere.

Unfortunately, due to restrictions by Apple, iCloud sync is not available in the version direct from Agile, only in the version from the Mac App Store. You could use Dropbox sync on both the Mac and iOS versions.

It is made clear on the purchase page that iCloud sync requires the App Store version (though many people still miss that). However, I am not sure if this is stated when one downloads the trial version rather than purchasing.

    Hi @lizgreg,

When you say you synced 1Password on your iPad to the "cloud", do you mean you used Dropbox or iCloud sync? Both are cloud sync services. As danco mentioned, to use iCloud sync on your Mac, you'll need the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac.

If you're using iCloud sync in 1Password 5 on your iPad and are using the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 on your Mac, you can set up iCloud sync on your Mac by following the steps here: Sync with iCloud

If you're using Dropbox sync in 1Password on your iPad, you can set up Dropbox sync on your Mac by following the steps here: Sync with Dropbox

If you're still having trouble, please let us know which sync method you're trying to use, the version of 1Password on your Mac and iPad, and if you're using the Mac App Store or AgileBits Store version of 1Password for Mac. Any other details you can tell us about the trouble you're having will also be helpful. Thanks!

I am trying to download the app off the App store but now it's requiring that I pay $49.99. I've already paid $49.99 on your website for the download (which I have been unable to do). Can you please advise how to correct this situation ? Thanks. Liz

I assume from your posts that you bought 1PW from Agile's web site only a few days ago. If you bought it no more than thirty days ago, you can get a refund. Just post here, and the AgileBits staff will organise it.

You will have to pay for the Mac App Store version separately. Apple provide no way of just moving the purchase over from one version to the other.

Or, of course, we (people on the forums, including AgileBits staff) could work with you to get the version you have working properly. There are some advantages in that. It's your choice which course to follow.

    Hi @lizgreg,

The information from danco is spot-on, I'm afraid Apple doesn't provide a way for us to convert a license for the AgileBits Store version of 1Password to the Mac App Store version. So if you wanted the Mac App Store version of 1Password, you would need to purchase that separately.

I was able to find your license in our system by searching for the email address associated with your forum account, and I see that you just bought a license for 1Password 5 for Mac from the AgileBits Store several days ago. We have a 30 day money back guarantee, so if you'd like us to refund that so you can purchase it from the Mac App Store instead, that's no problem - just let us know if you'd like to do that.

On the other hand, we're more than happy to help solve whatever problem you're having with the AgileBits Store version of 1Password 5 on your Mac, we just need to know exactly what that problem is. Right now we have very few details about what's happening on your end. If you read through my previous response, you'll see some questions & suggestions there - if you can let us know the answers to those questions, and describe the issue in more detail, we'll be able to give you more specific help to solve the problem. Thanks in advance! :)

If you refund me the $$ that I spent in your website and purchased it on the App store - would that interrupt my account ? I have my account already set up on my iPad and iPhone and don't want to lose all the data that I've inputted.

Hi - no one answered my question above. I would like to receive a refund for my purchase of the program through your website since it doesn't sync with my iPad and iPhone. That information should have been disclosed on your website. I need to purchase the Mac App from the Apple Store as per the thread above in order for it to sync with my other devices via iCloud. Please advise when I can expect the refund so that I can go ahead and purchase the App. Thank you

Just a quickie that the website version does sync with iPad and iPhone, but you have to use Dropbox sync. Dropbox sync is available on all versions, and many of us, including most AgileBits staff, are happy with it.

The information that iCloud sync is only available on the version from the App Store is clearly visible on the web site when purchasing. For some reasons, many people miss it, and I do think that AgileBits need to say more than they do.

I am not an AgileBits employee, so I can't say what they will do about a refund. Normally they do not give refunds after thirty days. You were asked in mid-May if you wanted a refund, but have apparently only now replied. I hope they will treat your original query as request for a refund at that time if you are sure.

    Hi @lizgreg,

I have initiated a refund based on your request above. I believe it takes 2-3 working days to process at which point you should be able to see it on your statement. You are now free to purchase 1Password for Mac from Apple's Mac App Store.

Just to reassure you, you don't have an account with us. 1Password doesn't work on a subscription basis at all or require you to store anything on our servers. Your vault is only on your devices and we can never touch it. That's part of the appeal for many of our customers. Of course it does mean ensuring your vault is backed up and safe is your concern given we never have a copy.

To avoid confusion I would recommend dragging your existing copy of 1Password 5 for Mac from your /Applications/ folder to your Trash. Purchase and download 1Password 5 for Mac from the Mac App Store and it will find your existing data from the other version and import that. You can then carry on with setting up Sync with iCloud.

Should you have any problems at all please do let us know.

Thank you for helping me with the refund and for explaining how your system works. I like that the info isn't on a server !! I will follow your instructions about downloading for the Mac.
    Thanks !!
