Prevent asking to save details when registering

I want to disable this because I tried a couple of times and the info saved wasn't right... didn't work on login and I had to delete what 1Password had saved for the site and execute a login again, then save...

Is it possible or 1P cannot distinguish between registration and login form?

thank you
david

    Hi David ( @davidhq ),

You can change these preferences in 1Password's Preferences > Browser. Simply disable the option to 'Automatically ask to Save new Logins'. There is also an option to add certain URLs to an exceptions list if you'd like to leave this option enabled except for on certain domains.

Is it possible or 1P cannot distinguish between registration and login form?

When the 'ask to save' option is enabled, 1Password will prompt you to save your details when it notices a password field being filled. If this is on the registration page, I generally allow 1Password to save, then find the appropriate sign-in page for the site and copy/paste that URL into the 1Password entry. (I like to do the log out/log back in to the site to 'test' my new details anyway.)

Thank you.... I won't disable this option though because I still want to be asked on login... I think it's not possible to not get asked just when registering...

    Hi @davidhq,

I think it's not possible to not get asked just when registering...

Yes, you're correct: When 1Password detects a password field being filled in on a website, it will prompt to save a new Login item. There's no reliable way for 1Password to tell for sure if that password field is on a regular login form, a registration form, or something else. But even though a Login item saved from a registration form won't always work on that site's main login form, it's better that 1Password saves the info so it doesn't get lost.

When I sign up for an account on a new website, I'll allow 1Password to save a new Login when prompted, but then I will usually follow these steps to save a new Login item from the main login page of that site. Once I confirm the new Login item works, I'll delete the original that was saved from the registration page. You don't necessarily need to follow that exact same process, but I wanted to mention it in case it helps.

If you have more questions about that or anything else, please let us know! :)

    Thank you!

Your solution seems like a hassle, I'll just not save on registration so I don't have to go in and delete... as I did now...

I'll login once and save on first login :)

You can close this now, thank you!
