Is there a feature for checking if all stored websites are still working/existing?
Using the 1Browser by clicking on the website field for several websites the browser opens but
- nothing happens except trying to load for an unlimited time or
- the message pops up, that this site no longer exists
Is there a feature to check all the stored website for their existence and may be offering the new available website?
Best regards
Diedrich

Hi Diedrich (@dhesmer),
We don't have anything currently in 1Password for Mac that would meet your requirements. I assume the desire is to prune Login items for deceased sites without a massive manual effort.
Technically it's possible, I see that
curl -I www.website.com/blah/blah/page.html
allows you to view the response and given the limited number of response codes e.g.200 OK
or404 Not Found
it should be easy enough to filter a list. What I can't do is promise you that such a feature will make it into 1Password. Each request has to judged on its merits and a decision made based on factors such as difficulty of implementation or how many people could use such a feature. I can see the argument that anybody with Login items may very well appreciate this though.
As for offering a new available website, that I suspect would be limited to http responses with a 3XX code for redirection but again, it's an interesting idea and one I've included as part of the feature request.

Thanks for the fast response.
I think, it would be a nice enhancement for most users.Best regards

I can write you a quick script to grab the list of uniq URLs in an exported 1PIF file, and have it attempt a web connection to those URLs, and report back a status.

I agree (I think). I'm a very new user and it seems I will have to go through each URL and manually ask 1PW to manage it.

Hi @jerejoiner,
Can I ask, what do you mean when you say:
manually ask 1PW to manage it.
I just want to make sure I understand what you're hoping for and what you thought 1Password does.

Being a new user, I may not have stated that clearly. I only have experience with one password manager (Dashlane) which rummaged through the files, "found" all passwords and recorded them. Beyond that it was not satisfactory and I dumped it in favor of 1PW, which had been recommended by the local Mac repair shop guys. I'm still not up to speed with it and find myself using self-generated PWs that don't get recorded in 1PW. Even trying to login to this forum, I tried using the "fill" to enter a randomized PW. I'm sure I will work it out, given enough time to work through the documentation. If you've ever served in the military, RTFMS applies.

Hi @jerejoiner,
I think that helped me understand  What Diedrich is looking for is quite different. They're hoping 1Password can let them know if all of the URLs associated with Login items they've created over the years are still active or if the page, maybe even the entire website is now defunct.
What might interest you more is the Getting Started section of our guide. It includes pages on:
and lots more. Those pages though should help with the basics in terms of what we call Login items, items whose specific purpose is to store the login credentials for websites that you visit.
If you have any questions at all we're always monitoring our forums and will do our best to help

There is some very good introductory stuff in the user manual which you may find useful.

Thanks so much, and I agree, more is needed from me. FWIW, RTFMS is military lingo for "Read the fkg manual, stupid." Typical of some people, we think we can figure this stuff out on our own. Not necessarily, or at least not easily. Thanks again. BTTMGI (Back to the manual go i).

Ideally it would all be so intuitive that the manual is un-required but that is a Herculean task for any application with even a modicum of complexity. That isn't to say we can't improve though.

We Hope You Find The Manual Informative
