Dropbox Sync broken (1Password 5.3.1)

Hi,

I've recently installed 1Password on two separate macs (Yosemite on both) and ended up creating two separate synced vaults.
I understand I can't merge them, but I also can't seem to be able to delete the main vault in one of the machines and start syncing with the other.

What am I missing?

    Hi @gNesher,

Just to make sure I understand: You have 1Password 5 on both Macs, with one vault (Primary) on each Mac. The Primary vault on each Mac is set to sync with Dropbox (using the same Dropbox account on both Macs), but they are each syncing with a different .agilekeychain in Dropbox. Is that correct?

Or, do you mean you have two vaults in 1Password on each Mac (a Primary and a secondary), and you want to delete one and keep the other? If so, are both vaults from one Mac syncing (via Dropbox) with both vaults on the other Mac? Do you want to delete the Primary vault on each Mac, or do you want to merge the secondary vault into the Primary vault?

If your setup is a bit different than either of those scenarios, please let us know the details. The steps will be very different depending on how things are setup and what you want to do, so the more information you can give us about all that, the better. Thanks in advance!

    Hi @Drew_AG,

I only use primary vaults in both machines, both are set to sync to dropbox but there's only a single 1Password.agilekeychain in there. Having said that they are not syncing with one another so something obviously went wrong.

I'm quite happy to delete the primary vault on both macs and start again (where both are synced to a new dropbox vault) but not sure hotw to do that

    Hi @gNesher,

I think the first thing to try is to simply delete the sync data and try and re-establish syncing with a fresh 1Password.agilekeychain - see if that improves matters.

    1. On the first Mac, enter 1Password's preferences and switch to the Sync tab.
    2. As you're using 1Password 5, set the menu option to None and in the confirmation box tick the checkbox titled Delete data from Dropbox. This will delete your existing 1Password.agilekeychain.
    3. Confirm there is no 1Password.agilekeychain in Dropbox.
    4. Set up Dropbox sync once again.
    5. Switching your attention to the second Mac. It should complain about Dropbox and disable sync as part of it's precautions. Assuming it does you can simply set up Dropbox sync again, pointing it to the existing 1Password.agilekeychain.
    6. If 1Password talks about merging that's okay, it means it will merge the contents of your two Mac's vaults which is what you've wanted all along.

Now if on the second Mac it doesn't complain of a missing .agilekeychain then it would strongly suggest it isn't syncing to where you think it is or there's a second .agilekeychain or Dropbox itself isn't currently working on one of your Macs. Please do keep us informed of your progress and we'll work with you to resolve it.

That's great to hear @gNesher

As this seems to be resolved I'm going to close this thread but if you have any questions or issues in the future don't hesitate to post!
